5.0 out of 5 stars Problem Solver, 23 July 2016
After changing to a new Android box, i suddenly found myself with a bit of a problem.
The new device came with a mini-HDMI output, meaning i could no longer share the cable with my Bluray player as before.
What to do?
Enter the Everesta HDMI port switcher!
The item arrived quickly and very simply packaged, and was hooked-up to my tv within moments.
So whats to know about this device?
Well, it accepts up to 3 HDMI inputs that are switched via a central button on the device.
A blue led lets you know which port is currently active. Simple as that really.
A few observations after 2-weeks of using the product.

* It works extremely well, with no obvious drop in HD picture quality through any input device

* It is super-simple to set up. Basically just plug n play

* When you switch between inputs, you do need to ensure that any device not being used is switched off before going to another one

* I think the addition of a bottom-mounted sucker would be beneficial. The switcher does get affected by the laying position of any attached HDMI cables. Small grumble really, but it would be nice to see the unit sit straight.

Overall it would be hard not to recommend this product.
Although i received it at a discount in return for a fair and balanced review, i wouldnt hesitate to criticise if i thought there were problems in use.
There arent.
Its simple. Its effective. It works.
And thats really all that matters with a product like this, right?

4.0 out of 5 stars Gbox Q2 Beater?, 23 July 2016
Let me make clear right from the start that i received this product at a discount, in return for a fair and unbiased review.
And thats exactly what i'll give it.
With technology items such as this, it would be easy to just list and comment on its out-of-the-box technical specifications.
However i think its more important to consider what its like to actually live with, rather than what latest wizzbang circuitry is installed inside its shell.
So to cover the specs i would simply say that the Z4 is right up there with the very best on the market at present.
And in my opinion the 'very best' is the Android box i'd been using up until receiving this one - The Matricom GBox Q2
In order to review this box fairly, i will be comparing the Z4 directly to the Q2.

First off, the Z4 comes beautifully packaged.
I was very impressed with the little tab at one end of the carton, which enables you to just slide open the box. Simple thing, but very effective!
Inside theres all you need to get your Android box connected-up and running, including a rather decent quality HDMI cable.
Visually the Z4 reminds me of an old-style broadband router, being rectangular and with a rubber aerial prominently sticking out of its rear.
Apart from the aerial, i actually quite like the styling. Especially the 2 discreet on/off lighting indicators at the front of the box. Nothing gaudy on-show here.
COMPARISON 1 - On my tv system, i share an HDMI lead between the TV Box and my Bluray player. With the Q2 thats not a problem, but with the Z4 it is. This box comes with a mini-HDMI output only which, to most people anyway, will be absolutely no problem at all. Was for me though, and meant an additional purchase of an HDMI splitter-box to get things rolling.

Once connected and switched on, you are presented with a very simple but efficient User Interface. All the settings can be accessed easily, being pretty much no different from the android phone-style standard.
COMPARISON 2 - The set-up UI on the Z4 is definitely easier on the eye than the Q2, and much simpler to change to your own preferences.
Accessing the apps and moving favourites onto your 'desktop' is a big plus here.
However, the preloaded Kodi app is an older version and will need deleting and upgrading to the latest version before use.
I tested the box both wirelessly and via cable. Worked absolutely fine with either, but i decided to stick with the cable as it gives a more robust connection and faster access speeds.
The supplied remote is much more advanced than the Q2's, with much greater functionality. BUT, and lets not mess around here, all android box standard remotes are difficult and frustrating to use. You really MUST have a bluetooth keyboard to use an android box properly.
And once i'd popped my keyboards usb receiver into the Z4, all the frustrations melted away!

If you just want to use the Z4 as a 'tablet' type device, its ready to go immediately.
All the usual Google / Facebook / Youtube / Google Play etc apps are pre-installed and very easy to find.
Plenty of onboard memory for storing stuff, plus a memory-card slot if you need even more.
For Kodi which, lets be honest, is what most people will use this device for, a little more work needs doing before ts ready to play.
After upgrading you will need to load a decent Kodi-build.
For me thats the Pulse CCM build, found via the Ares Wizard.
Once installed, pretty much the whole TV-World is right at your fingertips.
I have a 48in 3dtv and do watch a lot of 3d movies.
COMPARISON 3 - The Z4 seemed to access channels just that little bit faster than the Q2 and resolved any buffering issues equally quickly.
How much of that is down to my broadband connection? I'm not certain, but across the board the Z4 has a nose-lengths advantage over the Q2.
HD content was displayed crisply, and it runs 3D movies with ease.
I also found moving between Kodi and other installed apps to be a much simpler task than with the Q2.

So then, after running the Z4 for a couple of weeks i suppose the only real COMPARISON that matters is which box is still connected to my TV?
Well, the Q2 is very definitely one of the best android boxes out there at the moment. It sets the standard which others have to follow.
And to say that i still have the Z4 connected to my TV, whilst the Q2 sits idle, should tell anyone reading this review all they need to know.
Its not light years ahead of the Matricom, not by any means. It does though, seem to do most things just that little bit more efficiently than the Q2.
Applying the theory of aggregation of marginal gains, all those little advantages added together does make for a very compelling system.
Definitely an easy one to recommend.
Only the presence of that ugly rubber aerial would be the one negative against the Z4, but that can be easily removed if you use a cable connection anyway.
All in all, a great little Android system!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bigger is probably better!, 7 July 2016
My only previous experience with va VR headset, was a 10-minute play on the Samsung Gear with an S7 phone.
The full immersion effects were simply breathtaking, and left me itching for more - But without the cost of that particular set-up.
Much online research led me to YSSHUI 3D VR.
As ever I received the item the very next day after ordering, and was immediately impressed by the high quality of the VR's outer packaging.
It really does suggest a quality item is contained within.
Once open the box reveals 3 components - The VR headset itself / The Bluetooth game controller / And a neat LED torch gift. Nice touch!
All well packed & secure.
The headset itself feels light, but well made. No hint of any corner-cutting on build quality, which is good to see.
The device has a dial control on top, which is used to adjust the visual effect optimisation for individual users eyes.
There are 2 further controls on each side of the headset. Effectively controlling image focus.
I found all the image controls extremely simple to use & easy to find whilst actually wearing the headset.
Headstrap is light, secure, & comfortable in use. Although I have to say that I personally am not a fan of any kind of headstrapping, and found it just as easy to hold the device whilst in use.
Just my own preference.

The front of the headset releases & flips forward with minimal fuss, and reveals a sliding 'clamp' that grips a mobile phone quite securely.
There is another pop-off plate right at the front of the headset which, I suspect, would be very useful in preventing battery overheat during periods of extended use.
Adjusting the phone once in its cradle, in order to correctly align the 3d split-screen movies, was simple & I got it spot on first go.
The headset is described as being suitable for screensizes from 4.7 to 6ins.
My phone is an original HTC one, with a 4.7in screen.
And this leads me to the only minor gripe I have with the systems effectiveness.
3d effects are excellent, with good depth and colour integrity. Focus & visual clarity also first-class.
However I immediately realised that with a screensize at the bottom end of the headsets options, you don't get full VR immersion effects.
What you do get is the impression of watching a very good 3dtv, with the ability to turn your head and view a full 360 degrees.
Good, but not full immersion because of a thick black border at either end of the viewing screen.
In my case, a bit of a downer. Although I suspect not an issue with a larger screen phone.
I have decided to return the headset for that reason only.
More a reflection of my stubbornness for sticking with the same phone, than a slight on the quality of the headset.
I didn't use the Bluetooth game controller, but feel quality was good, so probably just as easy to use as the rest of the system.

In summary then - Real quality bit of kit for the price, but definitely better suited to a phone having a screensize nearer to 6ins than 4.7ins.
I should point out that I received this item at a discounted price in return for a thorough and unbiased review.
And i think its fairly clear thats exactly what I've done.

1.0 out of 5 stars How To Recycle Toilet Paper., 3 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The information given in this manual is pretty much up to expected Haynes standards.
BUT (and its a big one), the overall production quality is truly APPALLING!!
It looks & feels like a very bad reprint, made on super-low quality recycled toilet paper.
The photos are grainy and dull. Which makes studying the slightly blurred black & white images quite a challenge. Thin, flimsy, and softback. Not a good combination for a workshop manual really.
It won't last very long if used as an under-bonnet reference guide - That's a 100% certainty.
Treat it like an ancient piece of Greek literature though, and it may just get through a winter or two.
If you want a quality publication however - Definitely look elsewhere!

Let's keep it simple here - This is the best beach tripod currently available.
Build quality is superb, as is the striking blue finish.
Easy to erect & collapse & adjust. And not the heavy lump its claimed to be by some people.
Solid as a rock both on sand or uneven beach pebbles.
Mine has stood up to being swamped by a surging spring tide at Monknash, and didn't even wobble!
It really does make other tripods seem flimsy and useless.
Simple as that! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Husky Healthcare, 9 Aug. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My 8yr old Alpha male Siberian Husky was in a pretty dire situation after having his cancerous spleen removed.
His platelet count was so low, as to be almost zero. The prognosis from the vet really wasn't good.
They wanted him to undergo chemotherapy, which would make him I'll and still might not work anyway.
I decided against that. Huskies don't do chemo in their natural state!
Anyway, I opted for a more holistic approach to go along with his (already) primarily raw food diet.
This stuff was part of the treatment.
Now I'm not saying that its some magical, cancer-curing elixir - BUT as part of everything else, it really has made a massive difference to Blizzards well-being.
He's now bright-eyed, pink-gummed, and bouncing around like a demented sheep in springtime!
Just as a Siberian should.
And the rest of the pack seem delighted to have their proud Alpha back again.
What more of a recommendation could I give this product?
Just brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Quiet Revolution, 27 Jun. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Upgrading from a GTX 770 to this hasn't exactly revolutionised the gaming performance of my rig.
The 770 is a very good card, and there isn't a game out there that it couldn't run with ease.
That said, the 970 outperforms the old GPU by between 10 - 20% across the piece.
And does it whilst drawing much less power from the PSU. Also very quiet, almost silent, in use.
Even a maxxed-out Crysis doesn't provoke any flutters of discontent. The 970 simply bashes that particular gpu-killer!
Also taken my 3dMark rating from 82%, to 91%. And that's a very good thing.
I nearly went for the 980, but in no way could I justify the big hike in price versus performance improvement.
For a single-card solution the 970 is a serious bit of kit. And the MSI probably the best of a very good bunch.
If you're coming from something like a 770 / 780 though, just don't expect the world to start spinning backwards!
The improvements are more subtle than expected, but still noticeable.
And for me, well worth the investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Very Good, 26 May 2015

If you have the hardware capable of running Warfighter at Max settings, the game will reward you with visuals that are simply stunning.
As good, if not better, than anything else around now.
Gameplay is fairly routine, but nothing wrong with that. And it does contain a few novel twists to the norm along the way.
In surround mode the audio is simply breathtaking!
For the price its being sold at by Amazon, MOH Warfighter has to be one of the best bargains around.
Don't hesitate. Buy it!!
