2.0 out of 5 stars Very poor., 16 Jan. 2013

Not a good quality product at all. Advertised as fiting the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, and they do - almost.

The overall shape fit is okay. Not airtight perfect, but okay. It is the pre punched holes for the home screen button/camera/speaker etc that do not fit right. They are all very slightly off which makes me think either these werent originally for the Ace 2 or it is just poor workmanship. Furthermore the punche bits of plastic are still in the holes, which means when you take the backing off for the first time they fall out and stick to the underside of the cover! Ridiculous! I went through two before I managed to get them all out without this happening.

Not a good product, I'll be ordering a different one from a different supplier.

2.0 out of 5 stars Should be retitled confessions of an egomaniac., 9 Dec. 2012
Instead of a good documentary about egyptology in general, and egyptologists and the work they are doing on various sites, we get a 'documentary' and I use the term very loosely that simply serves to assuage Zahi Hawass' huge ego. The self appointed 'pharoah' paints himself as absolute ruler of his domain, and comes across as an insufferable egomaniac and bad tempered boss. He spends most of the time telling people off and asserting his authority! The 'cast' are a joke. The two women introduced in the first episode are fawning idiots! 'Sorry Dr.Hawass', 'yes Dr. Hawass,' 'Wow, you're amazing Dr. Hawass!' And the (I suspect invented) 'drama' of the new girl being looked in the step pyramid with a cameraman overnight only for Hawass to rush to the rescue (but not before making sure he goes to his latest book signing) was just cringeworthy.

I'm sorry but this was a huge, huge letdown. Ruined by the ego of one man. As the blurb states, Pharoahs ruled then, he rules now, well he has ruled over as much stifling of Egyptology as he has furthering of it, and this DVD set is a showcase of that.

If you want to study Egyptology, then don't watch this, it will put you off!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard to review..., 22 Aug. 2012
This is quite a difficult one to review really. I got it free as part of a bundle, so I can't really comment on it's value. However, I do not think I would have paid the asking price for it if it didn't come as part of the package.

Quite frankly this is an expensive starter pack, especially since it only comes with one orb controller and a camera (although to buy them both seperately will still set you back more). But then to get the full experience you will have to go out and buy a navigation controller (about £15 - £20) and a clip to attach your camera to the TV. Which is a lot of money combined.

However saying that, I'm glad I did get it as part of the bundle, as it is a lot of fun. It essentially turns your PS3 into a Wii, and you can play similar type games (such as sports games etc) with the rest of your family/friends. So for those people who want that experience as well as having the PS3 to yourself for more traditional games, then it is an excellent buy. (Certainly cheaper than buying a seperate wii, and the games are much, much superior.)

I'd say getting this controller at this point in time is more an investment for the future. Past titles for the PS3 move have been bland at best, sticking to the Wii route of bland family orientated games that people can play at parties or at christmas when the family are round, sports titles, move fitness, start the party and the like. However, there are a number of mainstream games now that are beginning to incorporate the move within their games as well as being able to use the traditional controller, Amazing Spiderman for example, or the horror title until dawn, which uniquely uses the move as an in game torch. Their are a number of really big name titles coming out in the future which will either incorporate or require the move, so for those who are thinking of getting one, then I'd say it will probably be worth it over time for that reason alone. (I still think they missed a trick by not having a move harry potter game where you could shout expeliarmus at the TV, but still).

As for the quality, I cannot fault it in that department. The camera is great, solid and good looking, even on top of your TV (and it has a lot more uses too if you want to skype with your TV over the internet for example). The controller is excellent and well built. It is ergonomically designed and fits comfortably in your hand and feels natural (unlike the blocky and uncomfortable Wii ones), and is solid and well built, from squeezing this quite tightly during gameplay (and even accidentally chucking it across the room because I didn't have the attached lanyard on), I think it will take a fair bit of punishment to damage it.

Overall, wether you get one of these or not depends on what you want to use it for. It is by no means an essential purchase or a necessity, but it is a fun accessory if you have the cash. If you are thinking of getting a wii for those family get togethers as well as a PS3, I'd say this will be the better choice. For mainstream gamers who want their family to leave them the hell alone while they shoot zombies or aliens or whatever, then this will be a good buy if you like the look of the games that will incorporate it in the future. If you don't then I'd say leave it and stick with the six axis.

Sony PlayStation 3 Console (320GB Model) with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Bundle (PS3)
Sony PlayStation 3 Console (320GB Model) with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Bundle (PS3)

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought as part of bundle, 21 Aug. 2012
Okay, if you are reading this you already pretty much know that you want a PS3, so I won't waste time telling you of the merits of owning one, save to say it is fantastic, and I'm so glad I took the plunge and bought one!

What I will tell you about is the package, the 320gb PS3 slim comes with all the basic necessary essentials (scart, power lead, controller charging cable etc, everything except a HDMI cable which you will need to get seperately) and one official PS3 six axis controller. It also comes with Modern Warfare 3 which is pretty decent if you like this type of game. In and of itself this is really good value. From my research, a 160 GB PS3 slim still averages out at about £180 - £200 (even second hand) the 320GB model can be a lot more, and the MW3 game is £20 in used games sections of certain shops, so to get the 320GB model with a good game for £220 is pretty decent value. However, when as part of the bundle you also get an extra official controller #(which retails at approx £35) and a PS3 move starter pack (around £45) as well as some clip on triggers for the controller (a couple of quid) for FREE, then the package becomes really good value indeed.

I did weigh up the value of this package or getting a PS3 package with a couple of different games, but this one easily worked out as the best value, and I picked up extra games afterward.

The extra controller is an absolute necessity, especially if you want to play with friends or family. The move starter pack is Playstations answer to the Nintendo Wii and is used in a similar way with specific games. However, it is a little dissapointing, as it only comes with one primary controller and the move camera, but no clip to attach the camera to the TV (sold seperately) and you still need to get a navigation controller (sold seperately) if you want the full experience. However, saying this, the camera and the move controller are pretty expensive when bought seperately so to get them free is a great bonus. I haven't used them as of yet, but more and more mainstream games now (such as the new Spiderman) are incorporating the controller as an alternative to the sixaxis controller, so having it is almost future proofing my set up in a way because I am sure it will become more useful to have in the future.

All in all this is great value in and of itself, the PS3 is great and it is a pretty decent game. £220 for both is well worth it and I am more than happy with this on its own. But to have the extra accessories as part of a bundle makes this a no brainer.

As always the delivery by amazon of the PS3 itself was quick and perfect, but for some reason the other accessories came seperately and were dispatched at a different time, so arrived the day after. This was a little inconvenient as I had paid for next day delivery and organised things as such, but overall not a major problem.

This is a film that does not take itself too seriously. It has great action sequences and the acting is great (on the most part), but most of all it is old fashioned light hearted fun. Well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent box set for those who love old fashioned nostalgic comedy., 9 Sept. 2010

If you are thinking of buying this then you must know what the series is about already, an old (very) comedy from a bygone age about a bus driver and his clippy; it is gloriously un PC but great fun.

As for the box set it really is amazing for this price, you get the FULL series (that is every single series) slimmed down into a fair sized box set (for those of us who have a DVD collection that is taking over the house!) And it has bonus TV shows I never even knew existed (which wasn't a patch on the originals, but still nice to see) and a fair ammount of extras.

Excellent value for the price, would highly reccommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars The belated and welcome return of true masculinity!, 20 Aug. 2010
This review is from: The Expendables [DVD] (DVD)
This film is one of the most eagerly anticipated films in a long, long time. As a result, a lot of people may feel let down because their expectations were so high, but a lot of others, myself included will think it meets every single one of them!

Okay, I admit, the plot isn't great, but it is more than adequate; it's not complicated and it doesn't have a lot of twists, but who gives a s**t! There's a massive body count, shedloads of bone crunching viscereal action, almost everything explodes, a cool plane with a bloody hidden gun turret (A Team my arse!), and a lot of humour and male bonding. There is even a few moments of surprisingly deep philosophy, but don't worry, something explodes soon to take your mind off it. And the most important part, Arnie, Sly, Bruce, Dolph, Jet Li, the list continues. Need I say any more than that?

This film is absolutely great fun! Sit back, enjoy the action, have a few laughs, and be surprised once in a while too.

If you are a man, you HAVE to own this film. It is the ONE time you can say you are looking forward to a manfest without getting funny looks!

That is another thing that raises this film above the norm too, it is a MAN'S film, for MEN. Testosterone and masculinity are not demonised in this film like they have been over the last 20 or 30 years, they are celebrated! It is a refreshing change from the chick flick dominated Hollywood production line, where even the so called 'action' stars are feminised, angsty tarts! The shrieking banshee 'here come the girls' crowd are strictly banished for a glorious couple of hours!

I repeat, this is a great action film.

Get the DVD, that's an order!

2.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, ridiculously poor coverage, 29 July 2010
Okay, the dongles themselves (there are a number of designs, all doing the same thing)are actually really good. The plug and play is easy, it is ready to go quickly and is nice and portable. These can be a godsend if you can't get or don't want a landline to get the internet.

However, the company 3 is so poor that it renders it useless half the time. The coverage is ridiculous, it is rare to get anything above 2 bars so the speed is worse than the old dial up internet, and often the signal will cut out completely for long periods of time (especially if the weather is bad)with no warning, making the internet unuseable. I want to reiterate that you in no way shape or form will get anything close to the broadband speeds they advertise (when you do manage to get a signal)! There are also the occassional glitches which will force you to take the dongle out and plug it in again jut to reboot it. A complete pain.

When you have signal, it is a great way to access the internet. But when you don't have signal, a lot of the time, it is useless and unpredictable.

3 need to sort themselves out and get some stronger signals out there.

2.0 out of 5 stars Blatant packaging misrepresentation, 27 July 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Princess Of Persia [DVD] (DVD)
First of all I have to say from the title and the cover (as well as the pictures of battle on the back) I was expecting a historical action epic in the vein of Alexander, Troy or other recent epics, but I was ultimately disappointed in this respect. The distributors are guilty of blatantly misrepresenting their product (and riding on the coattails of Prince of Persia with a rip off name change).

This is essentially a made for TV movie, more interested in political intrigue and the slow evolving of minor stories than it is in large scale battles. The story is very slow and struggles to hold attention for long.

Saying that, the actors are top notch and do pull off great performances. The locations and sets are likewise pretty lush and grand (even though they have obviously used some locations in India as replacements for Persia).

It is not a bad film, especially if you like long political epics that are about as historically accurate as the old films based on the bible, but it has been missold to try and draw in a wider audience who would be better off watching Mongol or Three Kingdoms, and for that it is only a 2 star film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic film., 26 July 2010
This review is from: Kill Zone [DVD] [2005] (DVD)
This film is great, simple as that.

The plot takes a little time to get going, and is a little choppy in parts, but is simple enough to follow without thinking too much. You will even be very, very surprised at the end.

The acting is pretty good too, and the fight scenes (which is why we all watch these films anyway) are absolutely outstanding. There is real thought and technique put behind the fight choreography and to true martial artists, this shows through and greatly enhances the fights.

If you are a fan of martial arts films, you must have this.
