Getting a Big Data Job For Dummies
Getting a Big Data Job For Dummies
by Jason Williamson
Edition: Paperback
Price: £16.58

4.0 out of 5 stars Big Ideas for Big Data Jobs, 11 April 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is not a guide to Big Data but on how to successfully embark on a career in the industry. As with all '...for Dummies' books it does exactly what is intended and well.

These are not meant to be indepth guides but simple, easy to understand formulas for gaining a quick understanding in a subject. Here is a manual on breaking into this professional in clear English with sections on roles, job-hunting strategies, preparing for interview and everything in-between.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Unexpected Thriller - Eventually, 11 April 2016
This review is from: North of Boston (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It took a while for this story to find it's pace but when it did this kept me gripped until the end.

Pirio has miraculously survived a collision at sea, lasting hours in the freezing water that claimed the life of her friend. The freighter, which had sunk their lobster boat, seemingly disappearing without proper investigation by the authorities. Pirio, feeling a sense of responsibility for her dead friend's son, cannot let the matter lie and begins her own inquiry uncovering a much deeper secret than a hit-and-run at sea.

While the reason for a parfumier's daughter to be on a lobster boat is sort of explained, it does distract from the story somewhat in the beginning but does become slightly clearer in significance towards the end. I did like Pirio as a character though I wonder that the privilege background took away something, would it have been better had she come from the fishing community? That is the only issue I had with what is an otherwise extremely enjoyable and surprising read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Results, 11 April 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A lovely, creamy texture, not heavy on the skin. Leaves the face fresh feeling even after a long, tiring day.

I have combination skin, with a tendency to be oily at times but this didn't dry my skin out or make matters worse. For someone in their mid-forties, it is a pleasing scent with good results. Nothing will get rid of the wrinkles but a decent skin cream will give the face a healthy glow, reducing the impact of time and this most definitely does. Having used this product for a while now I would recommend and will use again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old Story, New Refreshing Angle, 10 Jan. 2016
This review is from: For The Most Beautiful (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
While the story of Troy will be familiar to most, this book concentrates almost entirely on two of the women of Troy. Kryseis, companion to the Trojan Princess Cassandra and Briseis, Princess of Lyrnessus.

Briseis, chosen as a bride by Prince Mynes despite having lived under a curse where love had appeared to be a distant hope, seemed now set for happiness. Meanwhile Kryseis, although in love with Cassandra's brother Troilus, is reluctantly about to devote her life to Apulunus (Apollo to the Greeks). Then Paris returns with Helen and the destinies of these two young women completely alter.

By focussing on these two women and not trying to encompass the entire war and seige of Troy, the ancient tale feels fresh and interesting which means this is not just for fans of mythology. Aware of the fates of the more renowned Achilles, Hector, Helen and Paris; here are secondary characters whose lives are as equally important to the legend and who play an integral part in how the war unfolds. We see them as not defined as part of someone else's story but from their own viewpoint. Although an enjoyable read, when we are taken to the Gods on Mount Ida it does feel an unwelcome interruption to be quickly read through before getting back to Briseis and Kryseis who are far more engaging. The writing in these intervals almost seem like from a different book.

I finished the book wanting more and not a wooden horse to be seen!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Necessary Expense., 25 Nov. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It does what is needed, I have two 7 year old cats and a rather grumpy 16 year old cat so the package size is ideal. No issues with application, no problems with the liquid reacting on skin or fur and most importantly - no sign of fleas! A bit expensive but having had to deal with ticks once it is a price worth paying never to see them again, especially as we live near fields which is tick central.

Garnier Pure Active Spot Fight Moisturiser 50ml
Garnier Pure Active Spot Fight Moisturiser 50ml

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Not Great Moisturiser, 5 Nov. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This moisturiser isn't as light and refreshing as I'd normally prefer however it is not greasy or oily and doesn't lie heavily on the skin. The applicator dispenses what I think is meant to be all you need for your face although I did have to take more and I have a small face so perhaps I am not using it correctly?

All in all a good moisturiser but if you are used to another brand it might take a while for your skin to get used to the difference in texture.

Garnier Body Oil Beauty Dry Skin Nourishing Scrub 200ml
Garnier Body Oil Beauty Dry Skin Nourishing Scrub 200ml

3.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Scented Scrub, 5 Nov. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A good exfoliant, the rough, sandy texture is refreshing and invigorating on the skin, although using a decent body moisturiser or cream afterwards would be advisable. There is a pleasantly mild scent, not overpowering, so there won't be a battle of strong fragrances with your perfume or body lotion.

Although this is not the best I have tried it certainly wouldn't disappoint.

Dove Be You Washbag Gift Set

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Gift Choice, 14 Oct. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Don't knock the idea of buying toiletries as the classic gift cliché or the sign of an unimaginative gift buyer. Receiving decent toiletries as a gift is always welcome and useful, especially when the pack also includes a handy wash bag. The emphasis is of course on the word decent and this set fits that description perfectly.

Admittedly Dove has always been a favourite here as it suits my skin type; refreshing to go on, the body wash doesn't dry the skin out as some soaps can do and the lotion leaves a lovely scent on the skin that lasts, as does the softness. The vanilla adds a deep, wintery accent to this scent, reminiscent of Christmas cookies without the sharpness of ginger, while shea butter is rich and moisturising without being greasy or oily. For slightly dry, older skin, shea butter is wonderful but as I've been using shea butter for many years I can recommend it for younger skin too!
