This review is from: Wind in the wires (Hardcover)
Excellent book accurately depicting life with the Royal Flying Corps during WW1. Well written, factual, absorbing, entertaining and dispensing with some more of the more gungho accounts of the time.A must read for fans of this genre

5.0 out of 5 stars M-Mother and Magnificent, 23 Feb. 2016
This is an excellent book for those interested in this period of history and in particular this genre. It is a novel context to unfold the story using the basis of Flight Lieutenant Hopgood,s letters home to his relatives. The book tells a story that encompasses a record of true historic events and also of the tremendous grit, determination courage and dedication required of the participants. The book not only catalogues life in Bomber Command and the RAF of the period but also reflects the changing social values that WW2 brought.
This is the tale of young men at their finest portrayed with realism and without over emphasising the gung ho claims of some others in the genre
As a devotee of the RAF and in particular its WW2 history I found this book entertaining, informative and one of the best of the genre which I have read.

good enjoyable short story although in my opinion with a predictable outcome. Bought as a stand alone book this tale would fit in well with a compendium of this writers short stories but is not a book inits own right.

Bomber Crew: Taking On the Reich
Bomber Crew: Taking On the Reich
by John Sweetman
Edition: Paperback
Price: £9.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Bombs Away, 10 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Sweetman knows his subject and as in his other RAF histories this delivers the subject well and interestingly. However the book is one of many on the subject of Bomber Command and although it compares well with its counterparts adds little to the genre. For those interested in yhe subject still worth having in your library

Bought for my wife who on reading recommended it. I read it and thoroughly enjoyed this WW2 based story which as with her other novels captures so much of the supernatural as well the reality.Set in an area of France which the author obviously knows well it has certainly made our visits there of even greater interest

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest [DVD] [2010]
Dvd ~ Noomi Rapace
Price: £3.68

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of three, 23 Dec. 2014

Now own all 3 of the trilogy in book form and also in DVD .The DVD set complements the books and does not detract. But this DVD not only sets the scene for the rest but is a first class film in its own right.entertaining, fast moving, gruesome at times but infinitely superior to another non Swedish version of the same name
