4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality chain install tool, 1 July 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Used this piece of kit to recently install a DID 525 VX chain on my GSXR. It is very similar to the DID tool which costs twice the price, but in fact looks better quality. I found the chain breaking function more than adequate, just make sure you fully grind off the rivet on the master link. You will need a 25mm spanner and 19mm spanner/socket wrench to operate this device, and it only works on soft pins of master links that have a hollow end, which this tool mushrooms out.
The riveting itself takes a lot of effort, if you dont have big muscles a breaker bar is handy to have. Take care though as over riveting can make the link stiff. I found on my first attempt that the pin was getting pushed back through the link. This was because the recess in the press plate, used as an anvil behind the pin, was too deep. To solve this I placed a removed link side plate from the old chain into the press plate. The key is to take your time, check the diameter of the rivet with a set of calipers and compare with the recommended spec for your chain. If you over do it you will need to remove and replace with a new master link.
This is a quality well packaged tool that is robust enough to break and rivet many chains, and it comes with clear instructions explaining what each piece in the box does. I recommend looking at a few youtube video's of people riveting their own chains before you start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Medium sized Protex stretch, 18 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you are lucky enough to have a garage to store your motorbike(s), then the only enemy here is dust. Outdoor covers are of course overkill in these situations and can promote condensation, trapping it under the water repellent material. Rather than putting up with dust sheets I decided to buy one of these soft, stretch material indoor covers. I have 2 of these for both my bikes, one of which is a GSXR 750 K7 and the other a 2013 CBR 500R. The medium size fits perfectly on these sports bikes, hugging the bodywork to give that bespoke fit look. Its worth mentioning that these aren't seamless as described, but appear to be made from 3 sections of the fabric, so you get 2 seams running down the length of the bike. This isn't a big issue and actually helps when aligning the cover on the bike. The printed logos are also slightly different to those shown in the picture, but these also help to centre the cover.
In summary these are great form fitting covers for garage use, at a fraction of the cost of similar covers available.

4.0 out of 5 stars it was glued in well but just seemed like an afterthought, 18 Jan. 2016

Robust hard case for storage of those delicate 3D glasses. I have LG passive 3D and the glasses fit perfectly inside, which has a soft lining to prevent scratching. I found I was also able to fit two pairs of those passive glasses you get from the cinema in the lid's storage section, as they fold flatter than the home TV ones. Only niggle was the piece of foam stuck to the inside to act as a divider, it was glued in well but just seemed like an afterthought.
I great way to store your glasses and prevent them getting lost or sat on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hair today, gone tomorrow!, 5 Mar. 2015

Used this to unblock a stubborn shower drain. Modern drains from the shower in new build properties tend to be the P trap type, which are impossible to clear with probes or drain snakes. Usually we use the chemical drain treatments but in one of our showers this had failed to remove the blockage. A few pumps with this device and the blockage was removed! Beware however that the suction will draw sewage smells back into your bathroom, but it is at least a noticeable indicator that the plunger is working.
Suitably impressed we tried the bath which was draining slower than usual. Again with a few pumps this was cleared too. Due to the size of the accordion section a lot of air is moved with each pump, so not a lot of effort is required. It isn't as big as I was expecting either, its of similar size to a toilet brush sitting in its storage container! The lower part can be unscrewed from the handle but it takes quite a lot of unscrewing to separate the two, so its easier to leave it assembled.
I haven't tried using this on a sink yet, or indeed a toilet, but with the price of drain chemicals and the frequency that drains can get blocked with family use, the initial cost of this device will save you money in the long run and easily pay for itself.
The only other slight issue is trying to clean the inside of the plunger after the job is done can be a pain with the multiple ridges of plastic.
However, this is a tool that should be in everybody's home maintenance kit.

Price: £7.03

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy fill, 30 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well it does the job. Used it to replace the oil on my motorbike (Honda) which has a fill hole a few degrees away from vertical. The filter is actually just a round piece of metal mesh, fitted into the base of the funnel. It isn't a particularly fine mesh, so small bits of dirt could still enter the engine, but at least it is still there if you decide to remove the flexible tube.
Other than that a spill free oil fill-up was achieved with this funnel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its yellow!, 30 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
On first opening the bottle I was a bit surprised to see the fluid was yellow! Most brake fluids start off colourless, and then develop a yellow hue over time as they absorb more water. So they therefore act as an indicator of the age of the brake fluid. As the bottle also didn't have the normal seal you typically find on things like bottles of engine oil, just a seal pad on the inside of the lid, I was immediately concerned that the fluid had "gone off". A quick search however found the MSDS for this product which states that this DOT4 fluid is indeed yellow when new.
So far it works as well as the old fluid in my motorbikes brake system (Honda), will be interesting to see what colour it has changed to in 2 years time!

4.0 out of 5 stars A filter wrench that works and doesn't damage the filter, 30 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This actually works quite well. However care is needed due to the size of the metal bar, as some oil filters are quite short, such as those on motorbikes. This means when enough of the strap is secured round the filter, the metal bar can end up rubbing against the engine casing and taking off any paint. I reduced the chance of this happening by wrapping the outside of the ends with electrical tape.
What this strap type wrench does do however is prevent damage to the filter itself, this might not be important as the filter normally gets thrown away, but if you are just inspecting or planning to reuse the filter, this might be helpful.

Draper 22493 Portable Oil Drainer
Draper 22493 Portable Oil Drainer
Price: £16.95

5.0 out of 5 stars Drain away, 30 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Fits nicely under a Honda CBR500R, which is a faired motorbike. Catches the oil well. Like others have said, cleaning the drain pan area can be a bit of a pain, especially as there is a recessed narrow trough round the edge. Also when the oil initially starts draining into the hole at the centre of the pan, some of it spatters back up as the pressure equalises between the filling drainer and external air.
O-ring sealed caps appear to stop any leaks once oil has been collected inside. This drainer makes oil changes a lot easier.

Am-Tech S8016 10W Led Portable Worklight
Am-Tech S8016 10W Led Portable Worklight

4.0 out of 5 stars Light up your work area, 30 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Working on a motor vehicle in a garage can be a pain in low light. This is where lights like these come in handy. I chose LED as it uses less power, and even though they can be dim in comparison to halogen, is was hoping the wattage of this light would reduce the deficit.
Fortunately this LED is very bright! So much so the instructions warn you not to look at it, and if you do briefly glance at it you are left with an impression of that light at the back of your eye! Needless to say it lights up the underside of a vehicle in a garage very well, and makes working in the shadows normally found there a lot easier.
Only gripes are the thin powder coat used on the casing can come off, especially when removing the warning sticker on the side. Cable is quite short, which isn't a problem if you have an extension lead. Also there isn't a switch on the light itself, so when turning it off you have to walk all the way over to the wall socket to switch it off.
Other than this, very pleased with this powerful little light.

Minivac Brake Bleeding Kit
Minivac Brake Bleeding Kit

4.0 out of 5 stars Vacuum bleeder, 30 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Minivac Brake Bleeding Kit
Bought and used to change the brake fluid on my motorbike. Comes well packaged in a molded case with foam liner to protect everything. Easily assembled, the hand pump is actually made of plastic, rather than the metal in more expensive models. Tested before using and the rubber o-ring seals in the lids of the containers do their job allowing a vacuum to be created without letting air seep into the system. There is a button on the side of the hand pump to release the vacuum.
I used the smaller pot to top up the brake reservoir with fluid, and the larger pot to collect the used fluid sucked out of the bleed nipple. Throughout initial use I had problems with air getting sucked in between the tube and bleed nipple, which I presume can be rectified with a tube spring clip. These aren't supplied but I have seen them in other kits.
Though cheap this appears to be a robust bleeder and should work straight out of the box. Can also be used to remove other fluids from things like fuel tanks or engines.
