5.0 out of 5 stars Good headset, good quality microphone., 25 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Technically i'm not using this as a proper headset. I have velcroed it to my pair of headphones to make a makeshift headset of sorts. For that purpose it works great, having an adjustable boom mic with an inline mute. For the money I couldn't ask for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value headphones with a great sound., 2 Jan. 2013
The Lindy premium hi-fi headphones are an over-ear design headphone and share the same shell as the Fischer Audio FA-003 and the Brainwavz HM5 (as well as others).

The first thing that must be said is that these are a very large headphone, large than i first expected, meaning that these should be an over the ear design for almost anyone. Also the thick faux leather pads mean that many peoples ears, mine included, do not touch the inside of the headphone at all, this gives a very spacious feel considering they are a closed back design. This closed back nature also means that they isolate very well and do not leak much sound except on higher volumes. The faul leather pads however can mean that on a warm day these will make your ears heat up pretty fast are not the most comfortable for long periods. As long at it isn't too hot though, these are one of the most comfortable headphones i have worn.

They are not as heavy as you would think on seeing them as they are an almost all plastic design with a metal headband covered in the same faux leather but with a mesh-like material touching your head. The cups have a little play to adjust for head shape and extend quite far for size.

At the time of writing these come packed in a very nice foam filled case to protect the headphones, with a spare set of the faux leather pads, a 6.3mm adapter and the detachable 3m cable. The cable is a very secure fit and is colour coded and dual sided.

In terms of sound, these are one of the most neutral headphones i have used, meaning they work with almost all genres of music. The bass extends very deep but does not have the punch that electronic and hip-hop fans crave, but this extension with the clarity of the mid and treble frequencies give very detailed sound, suitable for the audiophile listener or for studio use. Also being a 64 ohm driver i would recommend using these with a headphone amplifier if at all possible. While they sound great straight out of a portable device, the amp really give them an extra boost and make them shine.

Overall these are a fantastic value headphone ideal for home use given the accessories and the great sound available, beating most headphones of this price range (around £75 at the time of writing).

4.0 out of 5 stars A great set of relatively inexpensive headphones., 2 Jan. 2013
The Sony MDR-ZX700 are a relatively low cost headphone, I paid about £60 for mine and I am very happy for the price.

They are a small sized headphone overall so are good for portable use but still have large enough cups to be be an over-ear design. The construction is almost all plastic but it is of good quality, the size adjustment hinges are smooth so they do not always stay in place. This couple with the fact that it is a very light headphonem and that there is very little clamping force on the head, mean that they isolate reasonably well and do not leak as much as some headphones, but will never be perfect, for me the sacrifice is worth the comfort with the very soft faux leather pads and headband.

The short cable and low impedance, make them ideal for use with a portable device such as a MP3 player or smartphone but they are also good for home use as well (how I used them). A detachable cable but be an improvement but is not common at this price, also they do not fold or come with a case so for portable use this must be considered.

The ZX700 have a very neutral sound across the frequency range so will be suitable for almost all types of music, though electronic and hip-hop fans may feel they are a little bass light. With the flat response however these are open to using an equalizer if one is available on your portable device and software at home. The clarity is very good, instruments can be picked out quite well and subtle details do not get lost in the rest of the music which is very hard to find with headphones of this price so this surprised me.

Unlike many other headphones brands the price on these is similar to US pricing so these can seem much better price when comparing the competition's products at the same level. Overall this headphone exceeded my expectations and I would say they are a great value for money and i would highly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, just don't let everyone know you've got it!, 19 Aug. 2011
I bought this mainly for use when i wouldn't have a mains socket such as festivals. This works really well, it has adapters for lots of phones and devices but if you have a USB cable that plugs into the wall adapter like most are doing these days then you can just take the cable and everything i have seemed to work fine. Last a long while with the 5000mAh battery.

Can charge two devices at one with dual UBS slots and will also charge the iPad and iPad 2 (which most chargers will not) as it has two strengths of charger but both will work with regular phones and iPods etc.

For festivals and things this is great these days because all they normally provide is some sort of area where you can go and charge your device up but you have to stay there while it is charging (so it doesn't get stolen). With this i left it charging in my tent overnight and then walked straight past all the people sitting next to a charging phone.

It is very light and has status LED lights to show how much charge is left in it. This product could have so many situations where it could be useful and for that I am more than happy with it and would certainly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Voice, 1 Jun. 2010
This review is from: This is the Life (Audio CD)
Bought this album after hearing the title track 'This is The Life', not expecting too much but i think this album is fantastic. Stand-out tracks for me are:

Mr Rock and Roll
This Is The Life
Poison Prince
Barrowland Ballroom
A Wish For Something More

All of these are great upbeat songs which i loved, her voice and the acoustic guitar work great together, not to take away from the others but these were my favourites. The one disc edition is more than worth it but the two disc edition comes with some great Acoustic and Live versions of the singles where you can really hear the scottish accent come out. Also the track 'Rock Bottom' is one of the bonus tracks on the second disc which i thought was easily worthy of being on the album so the two disc edition is excellent value.

If you like folk style guitar and a strong voice then check this out!
