3.0 out of 5 stars Good book but frustrating page format, 27 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The book itself contains some great insights into depersonalisation and the author speaks from personal experiences as well as carrying out some in depth research.
The 3 stars is for the awful page formatting on the Kindle version which at times made the book unreadable. I thought this may have been my old Kindle but it's the same on the Kindle reader on my pc. There are virtually no page breaks and at times the width of the page text would be reduced to half the width of the page for long sections
I'm not sure who is responsible for this - the publisher , the author or Amazon but they need better quality control before selling these books on-line. So my advice is to go for the paper back version if there is one.

Very readable and moves along at a good pace. Make a good film or TV mini series.

Not sure about the graphic sex scenes. I didn't find them offensive but they seemed a bit out of place in a book like this

5.0 out of 5 stars A Witty, honest account of the title winning season, 18 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've read some of Howard's work before through blogs and the Blue Moon podcast. His writing is witty, to the point and is very much from a fans perspective. Because it is written by a fan the writing is brutally honest - ie:there's no whitewash or towing the official club line.

The book covers the whole season including the sacking of Mancini and the summer transfer window. It then runs chronologically through each game including the cups. Some of the chapters are devoted to specific subjects such as the release of Ferguson's biography.

In all very enjoyable look back on a great first season for Pellegrini and City - I look forward to next years edition!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read, 22 Jan. 2014

Good read for city fans as always.

My only complaint is that you can only seem to buy back issues for Kindle. The description doesn't make it clear which games are covered by this issue which goes up to the Sunderland game (which was 10 November).

4.0 out of 5 stars Well researched and Convincing, 7 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Jeremy Bamber (Kindle Edition)
As some reviewers have already said it is not the best written true crime book but I don't think that detracts from it being a very good read. The level of detail shows the research the author has conducted into the case. What is surprising (and perhaps shouldn't be) was the incompetence of the police in the investigation; making no effort to seal off the crime scene, allowing evidence to be destroyed and allowing key evidence to be removed from the scene (including the silencer) by Bamber's relatives. Clearly Lomax believes Bamber is innocent and he focuses on the fact that the defence were not allowed access to review all the evidence at the first trial. It is hard to believe that all this led to a secure conviction and if I have one criticism of the book it is that I would have liked a bit more information on what caused both the original trial and the appeal to fail when one considers the evidence presented in the book. What is clear to me is that with little or no forensic evidence against Bamber and only the testimony of his spurned girlfriend pointing to his guilt should he be in prison?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value - for collectors and readers alike, 5 Sept. 2012
As a City fan I heard about this book through the Blue Moon forum and became a subscriber. I've had the book for a few weeks now and I love it. The attention to detail and the obvious meticulous research behind the text have produced an excellent piece of work. The book starts from the beginning and takes the reader through a journey from the clubs roots going right through to last seasons triumph - it's detailed but at the same time it's very readable (unlike a few other football reference books I could name). It's also a book that can be read from cover to cover or the reader can dip into any particular era - there's a lot of reading here. I also think the book is worth buying in hard cover because it is a book you can return to time and time again.
It's clear that for Gary James this was a labour of love but for anyone interested in football (not just MCFC) this is an excellent book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good Product, 17 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
So far been very impressed so far with this product. Screen is nice and clear and the tuning is easy and accurate. The build quality of the product is good - this feels like a solid unit. I've had no reason to use the metronome and to be honest can't see when I would (or the pitch calibration for that matter)
If I have one small complaint - other clip on tuners that I've bought automatically switch themselves off if you haven't used it for a few minutes which is a good battery saver. Having said that the product never claimed to have this feature.

All in all very satisfied!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, 11 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For the price (which obviously covers the cost of putting this great collection together) this is excellent value.

The only drawback (which is possibly a limitation of the Kindle itself) is that the % complete represents the whole collection rather than each individual book. So when I read David Copperfield the % complete showed 15% at the start of the book and ended at about 18%. Not a show stopper by any means but for those Kindle readers like myself who like to see their progress when reading a book you may be better downloading the individual books. Not sure if this applies to the more recent editions of the Kindle e-reader.
