Great price and quality, arrived very quickly. A worthwhile addition to a small collection of slides I have built up for grandson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value and surprisingly high quality, 8 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having read some mixed reviews about quality and finish I am delighted with this purchase. Firstly, I'm an IT professional but wanted a cheap and cheerful full laptop so that I can take abroad to work - a workhorse not a fashion icon. It needed to be powerful enough and have sufficient features that I could still function away from home - I run my own website design business. This machine has exceeded expectations. Firstly quality and appearance. It appears solidly build, with a keyboard that feels responsive and precise. The only downside to be honest is that there is no caps lock light. The mouse pad is a lot better than my other laptop which is an HP and again functions precisely and smoothly. The casing is a textured finish not unlike some Compaq or HP laptops. Yes, it will mark with sweaty hands, but a soft cloth cleans it down nicely.
The screen is quite shiny but lovely and clear. Fine in normal and even bright light.
Performance for an inexpensive (well relatively) laptop is very good, multi-tasking without hesitation or any obvious delays and everything loads very quickly. The startup time is very quick from a cold startup, maybe that is Windows 8. It runs quite fast too. Compared with many PC's and laptops this could be said to be a quick machine. Certainly better than others I have tried in this price bracket recently. Installing software from the built in DVD drive was very quick and startup of apps is fast too.
It's not preloaded with Windows 8.1, but Windows 8. Updating is reasonably straightforward but I wouldn't say would be easy for a complete novice. Overall Windows 8 (or 8.1) is what it is. I don't find it as off putting as many, but wouldn't say it was Microsoft's moment of glory! You can at least now setup to run in a mode that at least resembles older versions for those wishing to stay with the previous look.

I'm going to give this 5 starts as overall it does represent good value, does better than expected and was delivered very quickly into the bargain. I may revisit my allegiance to tier 1 manufacturers if this laptop continues to perform as it has set out to do!

Electrolux WorkZone Z61A Stair & Car Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner
Electrolux WorkZone Z61A Stair & Car Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific little machine, 29 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this for use on the car seats and carpets after a succession of handhelds, car vacuums etc had all for one reason or another not done the job properly. The Electrolux Stair and Carvac really does work! It is lightweight, easy to use (option with or without the rotating brush) and is very powerful. Quite a long lead and as we also use the cleaner in the house on the stairs, quite sufficient for the job without need for an extension lead. On the stairs it is so easy, and powerful too so picks up all the dust and bits. The cleaning head has an option to rotate 90 degrees so on the way down I do the treads, on the way up the risers, so job easily done. Seems to pick up a lot of dust that the other cleaner in the house (a Dyson) had not - though to be fair the Dyson was not a specific stair cleaner and uses the hose.

Generally very pleased and would highly recommend for car and stairs. No problems, no issues, does what it says it should with ease, so full marks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal additional phone for Panasonic set, 16 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this some time after I had purchased a 3 handset version with answerphone base station as wanted an additional phone in the conservatory. This arrived very promptly, is exactly as described and a great price. It was so easy to set up and works with our current system perfectly - even copying over the phone book was a doddle. Comes with no instructions but as it would be bought as an add on to the Panasonic phones previously purchased I'd assume folk would have instructions already Don't worry if you don't it is so intuitive to set up, just follow the phone menus. Tip - the phonebook is transferred from the main handset, instructions for this and other functions are pretty much available from the phone menu. Able to set an individual ring tone and as it is in the conservatory it has a 'night' setting which silences the ringer between times that you can set. As with the main Panasonic phones, it is good quality, has a good range and is easy to use. Holds power well, though I keep it in the charger (or as Peter Kay would say, in its holster!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific chair and great service from Beaumonth Furniture, 9 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought the chair expecting delivery by 17th September but contacted Vicky at Beaumont Furniture to advise I was on holiday at the start of September. She got back to me straight away and said they'd bring forward the manufacture (each piece of furniture is made to order) and indeed it was delivered yesterday, 8th August which is super quick service - I think less than two weeks! The chair is beautiful - the picture doesn't do it justice. Fabric is very high quality and the chair has been very well made - who says craftsmanship doesn't exist these days! I'm very pleased with the chair which looks expensive and very chique - and I can vouch for the fact it is very comfortable too. Seat is well padded, nice and firm and cover zips off for cleaning. Look forward to years of enjoyment. Highly recommended both for the product and the manufacturer/supplier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable little book, 12 April 2013

Found this book so useful and full of ideas, some obvious, many not so. Helps with the understanding of what makes web site visitors engage, what turns them off and how to basically 'do it properly'. A constant source of reference.

1.0 out of 5 stars Error on installation, 27 Oct. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Big disappointment. Windows 8 installation stops almost immediately saying it is "unable to determine if my PC can run Window 8". This in spite having previously run the Windows 8 compatibility tool which highlighted a couple of programmes, which I de-installed and was OK when the compatibility check was re-run.

My PC is just over 1 year old, an HP Pavilion desktop and not anything obscure or old. Currently running Windows 7. Drivers and apps are all up to date so what gives?

Have returned the product in disgust, as Microsoft seem unable to provide an answer. Can't really blame Amazon, but they are the ones having to handle and pay for the return - they should sue Microsoft!

In future, wait until the dust has settled before bothering with a Microsoft OS upgrade and steer well clear of Windows 8 until the issue is sorted. You'll only waste time and money.
Good job this doesn't happen to Apple every time they update their OS!

1.0 out of 5 stars Choppy and constant sound crackle, 10 Sept. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Was really disappointed with the Zx1 and I was so looking forward to using it - maybe I have a duff one? The unit is very neat, easy to use and pleasant to hold however the quality of the sound and video needs to be addressed urgently. In HD 720 30fps mode the video is very choppy. I expected this to an extent but it seemed extreme even in good light (i.e in the sun, outdoors). However by far and away the worst feature is the sound. Others have commented on the low quality and the tendancy to pick up wind noise, however nearly every video shot had a constant crackling noise which was there whether or not the recording was in a quiet area or whether there was speech or other noise. A search on the internet reveals that this is a common problem. It is not just background noise, it is a constant loud crackle from the internal speakers and on any external device playing back recordings (so it is in the recording itself). This renders the Zx1 totally unusable and I am sending it back for refund. In addition, the arcsoft software will not recognise, import or play any of the video files on the device, though other programmes will recognise them without any problems. Arcsoft says file not recognised and display a red 'x' against each file to indicate an error. What a disappointment, compounded by the fact that I bought this specifically for a holiday in the next two days so I can't even get a replacement in time if these faults are just specific to the unit I purchased.
