5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely The Best Dog Training Manual, Ever!, 28 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a wonderfully profound and comprehensive work, for which the Rabbis of Boca Raton deserve our unconditional, conditional [sic] gratitude. If you want to raise a neurotic dog, you simply couldn't do better.than read this immaculately researched book. If you want some penetrating insights into the kind of person who would raise a Jewish dog, then you NEED to read this. And if you're an attention-seeker who's not worried about being labelled barking mad and being forcibly restrained, then you'll want to read this in a public place where your shrieks of laughter will garner you all the attention you could possibly want. You should buy it - all that laughter must be good for your heart!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally Someone 'Tells It Like It Is', 21 Oct. 2009
In "Get Real!" psychologist and relationship expert Susanne Jorgensen wears her expertise very lightly. She is not interested in establishing herself as yet another relationship guru; simply in providing the reader with valuable information that is simply and clearly expressed and laid out. And that makes Jorgensen the real deal.

Jorgensen is delightfully free of ego. She speaks with the quiet authority of one who has no axe to grind. She is exceptional in that she is happy to incorporate into her book the best tools that she has encountered in her extensive research into the topic. Her agenda is simply to shorten her readers' learning curve as much as possible.

This is a slight book in material terms. Yet the reader who does as the author suggests, and works through the exercises, will come away with the self-awareness that is the key to creating good relationships.

I heartily endorse Jorgensen's thesis that relationships are an inside job. Too many people, especially in bad relationships, attempt to 'work on the relationship' without realising that relationship work begins with themselves. That work begins with the beliefs, values, attitudes, and the template they bring to the relationship.

Working primarily on what is outside themselves is like trying to improve your appearance by addressing your image in the mirror.

The fact is that people create the relationships they believe they deserve. Now, this may well not be the relationship they desire, but still the relationship they create is consistent with what they believe they deserve. As Jorgensen rightly observes, only by working on the 'inside job' can they realistically hope to change the 'outside job'.

It is a breath of fresh air to read a book like this that contains no waffle, whose only focus is to provide readers with maximum value as concisely as possible.

The Hamilton Conspiracy, the
by Andrew Segal
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to Bankrupt. They Story of Jack Gregory, Overweight, Insolvent and Unstoppable, 4 Oct. 2006
Could Andrew Segal be the John Grisham of the Insurance and Insolvency industries? "The Hamilton Conspiracy" is unputdownable. It's a slick, well informed page-turner that charts the 6 nightmarish months in the life of arrogant, overweight, successful Jack Gregory when his life suddenly spirals out of control. But Jack won't give up. He rolls with the punches and comes up with a daring, high risk strategy for getting even with his powerful enemies. The suspense will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. The ending will amaze you.
