4.0 out of 5 stars Watch for the love story..., 19 Oct. 2013
This review is from: Brain Glue (Paperback)
Multiple glimpses into one man's life, thoughts and imagination - no punches pulled so be prepared for the occasional shock! But a fascinating interplay between the soft-centred, occasionally betrayed, lover on the one hand and the testosterone-charged thoughts and imagined scenarios on the other hand.

Tenderly-evoked childhood experiences and homages to lost dear ones mingle with futuristic fiction, plays and poetry; so many different genres of writing that it clearly constitutes a life's work. In the second half of the book come an absorbing travelogue and, best of all, a gradually-evolving love story which has the reader rooting for the happy outcome so long awaited...and perhaps explains the writer's softer-edged, more philosophical outlook 30 years on.

Worth a look (or three?)!

Ben Street: The Secret of the lost soul
Ben Street: The Secret of the lost soul
Price: £2.98

5.0 out of 5 stars A real page-turner!, 30 Mar. 2011
Teen stage competitions, supernatural powers, comic interludes and a bit of sci-fi for good measure - what's not to love about this book? Ben Street is a fairly normal, down-to-earth teenager whose only ambition is to make it big with his street dancing. Then, one day, strange things begin happening to him and he becomes aware of a supernatural force giving him powers he can use for good, evil...or more often than not, comic effect! Ben and his friends are ordinary teenagers who pursue a ghostly quest - but against the backdrop of a normal school and home life, something which makes this book perhaps more appealing than a pure fantasy world...but also more disturbing! Try it...if you dare...

5.0 out of 5 stars A cracking good read!, 26 Feb.
Ben and his friends are ordinary teenagers who pursue a ghostly quest - but against the backdrop of a normal school and home life, something which makes this book perhaps more appealing than those set in a pure fantasy world...but also more disturbing! The adults are too wrapped up in their own worlds to understand, some because they're too normal and boring, others because they're too bizarre...

Sometimes I had to put this story down to sleep or eat, but always with reluctance - give it a try, you'll be glad you did!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but basic advice, 27 Sept. 2009
I ordered this product in the hope that it would help with my Business English tutoring, but it was a disappointment in the sense that it did not provide clear, easy to follow writing frames. However, I could see that the basic advice which was offered in this book would be most useful for Business English learners at an Elementary to Intermediate level.
