Seki Edge Toenail Clipper
Seki Edge Toenail Clipper
Offered by Ando Trading Ltd
Price: £12.40

4.0 out of 5 stars The Seki Edge clipper, 1 Mar. 2012
This clipper clips superlatively well. The only drawback is that the blunt end prevents you from clipping nails very short. You still need another clipper (the sort that looks like wire cutters) to do that.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Philosopher's View, 18 Nov. 2011
I am a philosopher and am currently running a course on consciousness and spirituality. This book is a 'must have' for my students; it is a well-considered account by a careful scientist (ennobled for his contributions to science) of the experience of communication with his son, who had been killed in the 1914-18 war, and various other people who have "passed on". At a time when the fashion in philosophy is firmly materialistic, this book provides a tonic for students, and others, wanting to come to terms with the world they live in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Matching the Hatch, 30 May 2010
There are at least two respects in which I regard this book as excellent: it is well-written, and it addresses the subject of the behaviour of nymphs. I mention the former because I have done a lot of editing and notice immediately when a writer makes a grammar or syntax error; I can also see whether he has thought about his sentences. The writer scores highly on both of these counts and adds an occasional touch of humour. Well-written books are becoming a rarity nowadays, though fly-fishing books seem better than most.
But enough of this - the main reason for recommending this book is the information on nymph behaviour. Most fly-fishing books give little or no space to this and yet it is one of the most important things that a fly fisherman learns. A trout feeds mainly below the surface and is often put off by a nymph behaving oddly. Thus it is vital that a fisherman knows whether his nymph is a darter, a crawler, or a burrower - and how it makes its way to the surface.
There is, of course, much more information than this. If I have a third reason for recommending this book it is that it is available for a very reasonable price.

The film followed the book very well. I read the book in German about ten years ago and found that the film lost some of the subtlety of the original prose. Also, Kate Winslet's performance was excellent but did not quite capture the image of the character that the prose had conjured up for me.
