5.0 out of 5 stars Premier League comedy!, 13 Nov. 2002
The 2nd Series of The League of Gentlemen sounds wonderfull as an audio CD/Cassette, even short car journeys are brought to life by this award winning comedy!
Joby talbot's excellant music leads us into our first ever meeting with Papa Lazarou, surely the League's most awe inspiring character!
In fact as you listen to this release, it is the music, in the absense of vision, that really brings the show to life!
Fans of the show can close their eyes and visualise characters such as Herr Lipp who will take you in his German mouth and Hilary Briss and the secret of the Special Stuff!
New fans, tempted by the excellant 3rd Series will find a world populated by soon to be married Transvestite, Barbara and Edward and Tubbs, the local shop owners out to find a bride for their monster of a son David.
Originally broadcast on BBC2 from 14 Jan 00 - 18 Feb 00 this was a visual treat and is now an audio wonder!

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding and mature follow up to their debut album!, 11 May 2002
This review is from: There Is Only Now (Audio CD)
In 'Till we're dead', their 2000 debut Album, Eskobar produced soulful, melodic and haunting music with lyrics that provided an amazing antidote to the state of the British music scene, despite not being English! Hey, they just sing in English!
There has been much talk in the UK press recently that programs such as 'Pop Idols' are killing the british music industry. If you agree with this then listen to Eskobar.
'There is only now', the follow up album, has achieved something that many bands would give their supermodel girlfriends for! The beautiful melodies remain but this album is more upbeat, more mature, whilst still retaining the catchiness that will have you loving each song on the first listen.
Eskobar manage to create songs that grow on you more and more until you can't imagine never being able to listen to them again.
Whilst they are relatively unknown in England, this will change if there is a God in music heaven! Sometimes sounding like Coldplay, sometimes like Crowded house, sometime even like Robbie Williams! Some songs have a touch of Oasis and some songs are simply unique.
Buy this (and 'Till We're dead') and be ahead of the crowd and fall in love with these songs. You will, I promise!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Comedy from The League of Gentlemen, 4 April 2002
If you have ever wondered what came before the TV series...if you have ever thought how do they get their idea's...if you have ever wanted to listen to other characters or hear more about much loved characters from the TV series...then this CD is for you!
This has been released on Audio Cassette for quite a while but its CD release will hopefully remind people of just how good this is!
Set in the fictional town of 'Spent' the story revolves around the arrival into town of 'Benjamin' who has come to Spent for an Interview at 'The Plant'. As with the TV series he stays with his Aunt and Uncle, The Dentons. Fans of the TV series will recognise this plot, however not is all as it may seem.
Fans will recognise some other characters also. Charlie and Stella, Barbara and Pauline.
Some other characters however are quite different. Bernice takes on the role of 'Local' Radio DJ and if you saw the 'live' local show for local people then this CD will go some way towards explaining the use of characters such as Pam Auschwitz and Mr Ingelby, the local shop keeper who uses a Curly Wurly for a ladder.
There is a seperate story being told as well. A different plot to the TV series and the ending at the Power plant is brilliant! Well worth buying!
It is great to hear where such great TV characters came from...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 9 Mar. 2002
This review is from: Til Were Dead (Audio CD)
I heard the On a Train track on the Trigger happy TV sound track, liked it and decided to give the Album a go. It is instantly a favourite and reminds me of Crowded House at their best (although the Lyrics are a lot more down beat) and a little REM, especially of the Reveal Album.
If you are a fan of melodic music and are fed up with todays choice of Rap, Metal and tuneless drum beats then buy this. Now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go on "put yer hand in " yer pocket and buy it!, 7 Dec. 1999
This is one of the funniest things of 1999! The TV series was good and this is even better, more in depth than the TV show but with the same whacky humour! Visit [...] if you want to see a sample of the script. In this house... we watch and listen quite a lot!

4.0 out of 5 stars Supposed to be for children, but at 29 I really enjoyed it., 6 Oct. 1999
His idea's, prose and themes all sparkle with inventivness and life. Forget the fact that it is supposed to be for children, this ranks high amongst such names as jeff noon and william gibson. A really good read.
