If you are getting a newly updated publication, that is the industry standard reference, you expect it to be right. If there is a mistake such as a whole row of values being wrong in table B6 on page 125 (giving rated disconnection times for circuit breakers), then an erratum should be included. My copy did not include the one that other people on my course got with their copies.

That said it is a vital guide for any electrician, if somewhat expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and concise, 1 Dec. 2014

This short essay is great at showing how in the first half century after Marx's death the revolutionary significance of his ideas had been distorted by some and developed by others. Those who interpreted his work often twisted its meaning to be compatible with the maintenance of capitalism. Grossman in naming of some of the principal figures in these debates (including himself whom he refers to in the 3rd person, so don't be confused that you are still in the introduction) allows the reader to get a sense of how and who managed to rescue Marx's explanation of capitalist crisis from being lost through theoretical misrepresentation.

Philip Kerr has abandoned the framing device of Bernie Gunther looking back after the Second World War to his experience of living under the Nazis. This novel is set in 1943 the year after the story of Prague Fatal but I don't think it matters anymore as to which order Kerr's Bernie Gunther tales are read in. Just jump onto any of them and enjoy a skilled story teller give us a detective thriller set in a period that can still be made terrifyingly real when written this well.

This review is from: Simon Munnery - Hello [DVD] (DVD)
A collection of excellent stuff from my favourite British stand up (my favourite American stand up is Steven Wright). Munnery's bizzare musings had me giggling through almost his whole routine and his gags linger with you for days after. That is comedy doing more than just being momentarily entertaining but elevating it to being art.

4.0 out of 5 stars We Used To Have Hope For The Future., 16 May 2012

Christopher Caudwell was the pen name of a British Marxist writer who travelled to, fought and died in the Spanish Civil War in the 1930's. He can in some ways be considered the more radical and optimistic counterpart to George Orwell. This collection of short essays are full of interesting insights that link various figures of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries with the decay of capitalism and development of the international working class. It is brimming with enthusiasm for the future of the Soviet state under Stalin and it is clear that the promise of the Russian revolution had yet to be exposed as thoroughly compromised. This affection for Stalin does not undermine some useful critiques of bougeois culture and society. This confirms the observation that has been made about other Stalinists from official communist parties in the aftermath of the defeat of the Russian revolution in the 1920's, that if they were discussing culture or the not-too-recent-history they could be far more reliable guides than if dealing with contemporary political or economic developments.

The analysis of figures like DH Lawrence, HG Wells and TE Lawrence(of Arabia) are done in broadbrush strokes rather than in forensic detail but every essay is infused with a hope for humanity's ability to acheive a better society beyond capitalism. It is this lack of cynicism and continual rejection of anyone and anything that would deny the possibility of a brighter future that make Caudwell so compelling. His willingness to go out to fight in the international brigades and his tragically early death shortly after, gives a glimpse of a genuine revolutionary who saw the need combine theory with action. Whatever his theoretical shortcomings, Caudwell deserves to be remembered with affection and respect.

1.0 out of 5 stars a massive watch, 11 Jan. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The picture of this watch on the website is deceptive, an attractive simple plain faced analogue watch with a black leather strap. In actuality it is massive, if you do not have wrists the size of the Incredible Hulk then this just looks disproportionately large and thick. If it was 2/3 size in face and half as thick it would be fine, but as it it is something that should be simple and stylish ends looking bling and tacky.
