Really Helpful and informative reading., 7 Nov. 2012
Bought this book to read for my sons 8 and 10.
It is spot on and talks about the importance of talking about feelings and that pushing feelings down or NOT talking about them will not make them go away. They just stay in the body. It also gives options on people to talk to if they cant speak to their parents. It talks about that life during and after a divorce for a while can be completely upside down and even horrible for a period, but that life does get easier at some point and that one or both parents often become happier when they don't live together anymore. It also describes in a way that they understand what exactly a 'Divorce'is when it comes to legality. It also stresses that it is NOT the children's fault and that they MUST remember that...(My oldest goes to therapy and he mentioned to her that he understood that it was not his fault). The book also includes words from other children the same age, which just makes it even more interesting for them. The fact that there are other children out there who is going through the same as them makes them feel less on their own. Read bit by bit and not too much at a time, as I felt it overwhelmed them. All in all, a very informative and helpful book that can either be read aloud by you or by themselves.
