A Pleasant Surprise, 21 Jan. 2012
As someone in their early 50's, a music review might not hold much sway with many readers. However, as someone who has been around for the rockin' 70's, Punk, New Wave, Grunge, Indie and subsequent eras and an ardent follower of the late, great John Peel then you might be persuaded when I say that this album is a great find. If you like Elbow & Mumfod & Sons, then this is a shoe-in. Yes, it may be described as modern 'prog rock' but don't be dissuaded by the genre. From start to finish it is a polished performance, beautifully produced, which on the 10th listening or even the 100th will leave you breathless as you notice something previously missed in the musical landscape that this amazing trio create. If you like to dip in to albums then I suppose you could start with "Future Perfect Tense" but my recommendation is to sit down, shut out the world and enjoy the peaceful place that this album transports you to. This is the first time I've been moved to write a review for my hundreds of purchases from Amazon or any music; it really is that good.
