5.0 out of 5 stars A work of art., 29 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Amazing hand drawn sprites and background. Addictive and fun combo gameplay. Interesting story with 5 different characters to play as. The storys crossover so you will meet some of the other playable characters when you are playing as certain other ones.

Overall this game is a master piece and suits the vita screen really well. You'll get around 50hrs from the main game and a lot more if you do post game.

A must buy for the vita.

Amazing game. I have spent maybe 200hours on this game so far. I have gotten platinum and am still playing it due to the free randomly generated dungeons added in patches. A must buy for the vita.

Some people try to mark down the game due to some characters showing too much skin. I don't find the human body offensive and the art work is beautiful. If people are offended by this then maybe they should steer clear from beaches or swimming pools in future?

5.0 out of 5 stars Monster hunter with more action and less grind., 25 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you want a more action orientated monster killing experience than monster hunter then this is the game for you.

Tons of content, nice storyline, online 4 man gameplay. It could keep you occupied for 100+ hours easily. Great value for money And a great buy for me. Currently trying to get platinum and enjoying every minute.

5.0 out of 5 stars A game to keep you busy for a long long time., 1 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One of the best games I've ever played. If you like fps shooters and loot based games like diablo and torchlight then this is your dream come through. This also is the only game I think ever that has made me constantly laugh the whole way through. It's a combination of hilarious and disturbing. Also this GOTY edition is excellent value and has hundreds of hours of potential gameplay. I can't recommend it more. Go buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best RPG i've played!, 15 Jan. 2008
If you buy only one RPG buy this one. It is simply amazing. I've played Morrowind, most of the Final Fantasy and D&D based rpgs, so RPG games would be up there as my favourite genre of games and this game would be top of my RPG list, which is saying something.
The graphics are beautiful and sometimes i find myself standing on the edge of a lake looking at the sun set or standing atop the ruins of a castle looking down on the surroundings. The gameplay is so fun and addictive. It's the most unlinear game i've played. Basically the game makes you do one dungeon at the start and then after that you can do whatever you want. I mean that. You don't even have to touch the main storyline 200 hours into the game if you don't want to.
This game uses the "create your own destiny" attitude that Deus Ex started and really goes to town. You can be anybody you want to be. You can go straight into the main quest if you want or else explore the massive world first any way you want just following up on overheard conversations or exploring dungeons for treasure.
Now i've read people complaining about the leveling system in the game and whilst i agree that somethings have been lost using this, this is the main reason the game is so non-linear and realistic so i wouldn't change it for anything. There's so many surprises and excellent quests everywhere and you can find them at your own pace. It's all about choice. The one problem i had was the lack of different weapons. While there are plenty of weapons in the game there wasn't enough types for me ie glass/ ebony etc Which brings me onto another important point to the game.
The modding community in this game is amazing. The modding system is much better and user friendly than Morrowind was so mods are alot more appealing. I'm currently using around 50 different mods in my game at the moment which greatly enhances gameplay. These aren't mods to fix problems just mods to change things to how you like it. I mentioned that there wasn't enough weapons for me, no problem i downloaded real weapons mods now have 100+ weapons to choose from at the same stats as the original ones and it doesn't make the game easier or more difficult in any way. There are official expansions and add-ons to download too to get even more out of the game.
This isn't a game to spend months on this is a game that you may spend years on, it's that good.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flawed again!, 29 Dec. 2007
Ok, firstly i cleared NWN2 even with all the bugs, characters disappearing, cutscenes messing up, numerous crashes etc only to get a terrible ending with a few pictures and a voiceover lasting around 3minutes. Talk about rushed.

I love these kind of games though, playing BG, NWN1, Torment, ID etc so i thought ok i'll give this a chance.

The start was great , i noticed the loading times were a bit quicker and the camera options were changed, things were looking up. 10 hours of gameplay later i'm just as frustrated as NWN2.

Firstly they have changed the camera, but it's still needlessly complicated and considering more of this game takes part indoors it makes it worse. It's still the worst camera control i've ever used in a game. The method of changing your view is done by ticking tons of boxes and trying to find a combination that works of which none do comfortably. There's still tons of bugs which again i had to fix myself like script missing my entire team turning invisible in some dungeons, the camera getting stuck on rotating, npcs getting stuck in scenary and inevitbale crashes.

Because mages are so overpowered in this game now the fighting is so unpredictable and luck based it's not even funny. There's a fight you have to have at one point early on in the game. I got destroyed the first 3 times. Then the 4th time it was over in 6seconds and the cue scene just triggered without me even really seeing what happened. This happened in most of the large fights with mages just blowing everything up with hollywood style explosions. Not much fun really.

There's a NPC that joins your team early on as well and if you bring them around their body obstructs your view half of the time so annoyingly that even though i wanted them i had to leave them behind all the time.

Now for the worst aspect of the game. The new concept of this spirit meter is an atrocious idea. Rpgs are about taking your time, exploring and fighting with some choice. This game and this meter forces you to rush everything making it more of an arcade blast em up if you're a mage and slash em up if you're melee character (if there's anything alive left for you before the mages kill everything) The linear design, whilst helped a tiny bit with the other world you can go into, only makes the spirit meter worse. Everything feels rushed and the combat has next to no tactics just everything dying in firework displays.

As far as i'm concerned i've given up on NWN2. Some people say in it's defense it's the toolset and the multi-player aspect people buy the game for not the official campaign. Well my advice is if you're looking for a game where the official campaign doesn't matter to you and you love to fix bugs yourself and will only use this for making your own maps then go ahead and get this.
However if you're looking for an RPG to play in the traditional style of Baldur's gate etc or a modern open ended world to explore like Oblivion then avoid this like the plague as it's neither and will just drive you mad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wasted Potential, 29 Dec. 2007
This game could have been so much better. Firstly i've played this through and cleared it and bought the expansion which i've given up halfway through. My patches are up to date and i've even had to download users fixes off forums to fix other bugs which i think is ridiculous. This is the buggiest big release game i've ever played i think. The camera is atrocious at best. The game is buggy as hell, i've had characters disappear into thin air after cut-scenes never to return, forcing me to use a save from 4 hours or longer ago. The graphics are nice but why it murders my fairly decent comp is beyond me, they're good not that good. The inventory system is a cluttered mess, they put too much useless loot that you'll never use and terrible methods of categorising and storing it.

The story is ok if a little cliche. The voice acting is some of the best i've ever heard and the interaction with characters is excellent but the game is the most linear RGP i've ever played. IT's unlinear in how you get on with the characters and how you choose to treat them but as for exploration they might as well have had it in 90's level system 1-1,1-2 etc

Not everyone buys this just for the toolkit. I wanted a great Rpeg to sink my teeth into, but due to bugs, crashing, infuriating camera and extremely long loading times i didn't enjoy it. The game seems rushed and as if they left it to the buyers to sort out the problems themselves. There's good parts and the game's more playable with the expansion installed (but they managed to make the camera options even more confusing) but it feels like you're trying to see past the problems most of the time and not just losing yourself in the game.
