Waste of time. This book is of no practical use. Illustrations are poor and few. The written instruction is dire.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Maths Book For Someone Who Hates Maths, 30 Nov. 2014
This is the son of R. Reed here. At Primary School I found maths boring, pointless and uninteresting. This book is excellent for giving you the very basics of numbers, perfect as a first ever maths book of a future maths fan. Now in Year 9, I now enjoy maths lessons and am getting much better marks in my tests - all because this book stimulated my interest in the subject. It will not teach you about algebra or statistics, but it will give you the basics you need to eventually find maths enjoyable. This book can covert a very maths-anxious person into someone who finds maths interesting and, most importantly, fun.

Buy the book and the accompanying DVD but preferably before you get your dog. The lessons to be learnt in establishing dominance are worth the price of both.
Fennel champions a none violent approach to dog training which works.

My son is fairly good at maths and enjoys reading. The book set gave him a fresh interest in the subject. He tells me he now "enjoys maths" .

Complete Lurcher, The
Complete Lurcher, The
by David Brian Plummer
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth buying but shop around., 7 April 2014

This review is from: Complete Lurcher, The (Hardcover)
The author wrote fact and fiction. Both are enjoyable and according to some Internet contributors the two could become intertwined.
Plummer has a smooth knowledgable way of writing which made the book hard to put down without reading all the way through.
The book champions the lurcher as a working breed and does challenge the person working the dog to allow it to maximise its potential in terms of being an all rounder rather than just a dumb brute running down its quarry.
As a first time lurcher owner it gave me a new appreciation of the lurcher type and those that use them.
Please shop around however as there are some silly prices on Amazon, you might find ebay cheaper.

Dog loves it but I only use it to seal the kong. I have since used peanut butter to same effect and peanut butter is a lot cheaper.

Meditations on Violence: A Comparison of Martial Arts Training and Real World Violence
Meditations on Violence: A Comparison of Martial Arts Training and Real World Violence

5.0 out of 5 stars A wake up call, 11 July 2013

This is a book written without any thought of self promotion. It is written by a prison officer with a great deal of practical experience who is not shy in explaining a point by examining his own past mistakes. This is not a " how to " technique book but a dissection of the process of violence.
The book is brutally honest stating some ugly truths which I as a police officer would echo. Bad things happen in bad places and are carried out by bad people. The best defence strategy for a civilian is to avoid those places.
This simple fact is avoided by many martial art experts advocating their own " latest " and " street proven" techniques. Miller is to be applauded for his deep analysis of what self defence really is.
Miller also examines the aftermath of violence in terms of legality and the psychological effect on the person. It is at times a sobering experience to read.
Miller puts forward the theory of " group monkey dance" and this part of the book alone is worth the price in its analysis of group dynamics that can lead to violence. I would recommend this book to anyone coming into contact with potentially violent clientele . It would be useful for social workers to youth workers to club doormen. It is that good a book.

These are all pretty much the same. Do yourself a favour and get one. As a family of three this has largely replaced our cooker.
