5.0 out of 5 stars A remembrance of times past, 5 July 2013
This review is from: A Certain Summer (Paperback)
This book is not only a good read, but for men of a certain age it brings back memories of summers long gone. I laughed aloud at some of the deeds of Sam and his mates. It is a joyous book and I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

As a historian this book, is a classic study of the the first world war from the perspective of an officer trying to come to terms with what is happening around him. It is one of the not to be missed books on World War One

A book bought for my wife as a present as it was a favourite book of hers from many years ago. A lovely, although poignant story and a classic greatly enjoyed.

This review is from: The Kaiser's Battle (Paperback)
An excellent book by an experienced author, using the words of those who were involved on both sides in the battle. From a personal point of view it enlightened me as to the conditions on the day since my grandfather was one of those wounded and captured in the german attack. Truly informative and well written.
