4.0 out of 5 stars Seems like the perfect charger!, 25 July 2017
I was sent this free of charge by Ankar, as I'd had reliability problems with their cheaper charger (the two port one). So far all is well with this one. Seems well made, charges well, doesn't get hot. I've only been using it for a month, so have given it four stars. If it's still reliable after a few more months I'll raise this to five stars. Great customer service from Ankar.

2.0 out of 5 stars Faulty charger, but great customer service., 27 May 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Was initially very impressed with this charger. But after 5 months devices are now very slow to charge, and I've noticed the charger gets warm to the touch now & sometimes emits a high-pitched noise. Not impressed with Ankar's quality control, sadly.
Edit: Ankar contacted me on the same day I left the comment above, and seemed genuinely concerned. Within a couple days I have a new unit. 10/10 for customer service. It remains to be seen if the relibility of this new unit is better, but it's working fine so far so I'm revising this to 3 stars for now.
Edit 2: Sad to report that the replacement charger has started acting up after only 2 weeks. It gets hot charging an iPad Air 2, or a Chord Mojo DAC, using Apple's cable or Ankar's own Powerline! I've noticed the iPad's touch screen is erratically responsive whilst used with this Ankar charger too.
Edit 3: Ankar again got in touch very quickly. They replaced the 2nd charger - free of charge - with their 4-port charger. So far this has been working much better. I cannot really add more stars to this review as it's for the 2 port charger, but FULL marks to Ankar for wanting to keep customers happy. That's a rarity in this day & age!

4.0 out of 5 stars A FAB book, but Kindle version crippled by technical problems, 26 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An absolutely fantastic book, and a riveting read about the production of one of the most influential productions of all time. The amount of research that has gone into each & every page is truly amazing, and I thought I knew more or less everything to do with this film by now! The pictures are also fantastic too, and well chosen. You really do feel like a fly on the wall throughout the production of this film.

My ONLY complaint rests with the Kindle version. The audio & video 'enhancements' do not (as of late October 2013) work with either the PC or the Mac versions of the Kindle software. Very frustrating as this is the reason I went for this, in addition to already having the physical book. Apparently some are having problems using this on a Kindle Fire HD too. Have yet to hear about any problems viewing it on an iPad.

Once Amazon (fingers crossed) sorts out this problem, I'd have no hesitation at all in giving this a full 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Still a beautiful voice, but why the use of auto-tune?!, 14 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: A (Audio CD)
Received this today, as Abba are my (non-too) guilty musical pleasure!

Was enjoying it (bar the cynical 'grab the teen market' duet with Gary 'tax avoider' smug b*gger Barlow which I skipped on general principle!) until I shockingly heard auto-tune raise its ugly head on Bubble and Back On Your Radio. Haven't detected it on the earlier tracks, but I'm utterly surprised her voice needed it at all (I can only assume/hope it was done for 'artistic' purposes) - listen through headphones and you can hear the tell-tale signs of AT. Other then that, she sounds in absolutely fine fettle! I'd rather take a bit of imperfection than a voice electronically massaged into 'perfect' pitch. How dare the producer(s) think her voice needed this frankly... This is Agnetha - not Aguilera!

APART from that, it's not too bad at all - lovely to hear her again. Very nostalgic in places. It's a curious mixture of styles though. Abba in places (of course), Carpenters in others, modern pop auto-tuned Madonna-esque stuff in others. Not a classic by any means, but a pleasant way to chill out for 40mins...

Apart from the auto-tune crime, it sounds fantastic too through a decent system. I would have given it a solid 4, but for the presence of Barlow, and the completely unnecessary use of auto-tuning the voice of an 'A'ngel...

2.0 out of 5 stars Fine... for a while, 11 Sept. 2012
Worked just about flawlessly for the first 12 months or so, then started having intermittent problems with wireless devices (iPhone, iPad, Laptop etc) being able to get a signal from it & connect. Unplugging the router for a minute or so sometimes helps, and then the 'fun' begins again. Yes have followed all the resetting instructions suggested by Belkin's website, and some from other sites. I think it over-heats, and turning it off for a while helps. Frustrating device - looking forward to getting rid of it to be honest!

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT like the photo, 21 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I know £12 isn't tooo pricey, but the quality of this product is absolutely rock bottom. The wig doesn't look at all like it does in the picture - nowhere near as much 'volume'. Just looks like a gothic tea-caddy with mange!!! Moustache stays on for a few minutes. Appalling - look elsewhere! I'd give it 0 stars if I could.

3.0 out of 5 stars Legit reviews?, 26 Mar. 2012
Funny how all the reviews for this product all sound very similar. Did a quick check and around 90% of all the reviews for this product are by people that have left no other reviews for anything else... A tad suspicious methinks.

1.0 out of 5 stars MORE changes did you spake?!, 2 Sept. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Folks, if you like the idea of films being treated like computer software, with constant 'big fixes', tweaks and additions every few years, then go ahead and make George Lucas even richer.

If - on the other hand - you think perhaps he had his chance to make these films perfect back in 1997 (when all this Special Edition tinkering really began) and is now just taking the you-know-what, then vote with your wallets.

Now, I have nothing against Special Editions, providing the originals are released as well, like the 'Blade Runner', 'Alien' and 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' bluray sets for example. However, perhaps people are not aware that these new Star Wars blurays represent V.4 of the original Star Wars trilogy. The big changes started, as I said earlier, with the 1997 Special Editions. Then again with the changes for the 2004 DVDs. Now more changes for the 2011 Bluray sets. The infamous Greedo scene has been redone 4 times now - doesn't that strike you as just a bit silly now?! Two versions of the Jabba CGI now as well. Rumours abound of yet more changes for the (it may happen, it might not now) 3D versions in the future.

My point is surely enough is enough now?! These films need to be FINISHED. Aren't you tired of buying unfinished versions of the films by now?

I would advise hiring before buying folks, to see if you get on with these 2011 versions or not. As for myself, I've decided against getting this set - I've bought too many in the past, and I'm now getting tired of all the changes. I resent films (and film history) being treated like software upgrades.

FINISH THE FILMS FIRST GEORGE - THEN release them to an audience!!!

Thank you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Warning: DVD contains cut version of the Halloween Special, 29 Jun. 2011
This review is from: Psychoville - Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
I love Psychoville, and feel that with the second series Reece and Steve have outdone themselves and really achieved the impossible - namely improving upon the already fantastic first season.

The series gets better and better - it's deliciously dark too, and brings in a few new characters, my favourite being the hilariously scary - and surreal - Silent Singer. Some lovely plot twists, great atmosphere and film references galore all add up to another winning series that rewards with repeated viewings.

Unfortunately I've had to knock off a couple of stars from this review as someone at the BBC has made a mistake putting together this DVD set. They've included the shorter, US cut of the Psychoville Halloween special on this DVD instead of the full version transmitted by the BBC last year. This cut unfortunately omits the Mr Lomax portion of the story. In my humble opinion I think the BBC should man up to this mistake, and offer a disc replacement trade in, instead of fans having to shell out for it again at some point when it is re-released.

This shouldn't detract from an otherwise superbly put together series - and nice a nice/informative set of DVD extras - but it is disappointing and an error I feel should be addressed & corrected ASAP by the BBC.
