Blue Spot 40502 Hose Clamp Set (26 Pieces)
Blue Spot 40502 Hose Clamp Set (26 Pieces)
Offered by Smiths Trading Scotland Ltd
Price: £5.99

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete rubbish - not one worked so far, 7 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought these clips for some very light use jobs, e.g. securing a soft rubber hose, holding a thin plastic sleeve onto a wooden shaft, etc.

Every single clip I've tried so far has just fallen apart as soon as I begin to tighten it. They literally fail as soon as you take up the slack in the first few turns of the screw. usually the screw housing just opens up and the screw loses its seating.

These clips cannot even manage a mild compression on a rubber hose. They certainly are not up to anything more robust.

Absolute rubbish. I imagine the manufacturer sent through a few good sets to start with, then simply sent junk thereafter (Amazon, welcome to how business works in the far East, by the way...)

2.0 out of 5 stars and offers a customisation range that I - probably like most people - simply don't use, 19 May 2016
I thought I'd buy a decent gaming mouse, instead of using my random selection of everyday mice. Certainly this Corsair M65 seems very precise, and offers a customisation range that I - probably like most people - simply don't use.

After just a few weeks of use, however, two irritating problem arose:

1. The first is that the wheel has started to squeak quite badly. There is apparently no way this can be lubricated or cleaned. Very annoying!

2. The initial smoothness of the mouse (I use a hard gaming mat) soon became very gritty and draggy. The problem is that the PTFE feet are very thin and they seem to wear out very quickly. This causes the aluminium chassis of the mouse to start dragging. I've literally had to take a Dremel to the mouse and polish away all of the sharp edges. A few months later, and this mouse is effectively useless - the feet are worn out, and there is no UK source to replace them.

A technically decent mouse let down badly by poor design and support.

Maypole MP363 230V Heavy Duty Rubber Inspection Lamp
Maypole MP363 230V Heavy Duty Rubber Inspection Lamp

1.0 out of 5 stars Bulb socket useless, 5 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The bulb socket is very badly made. There is far too much gap between the bayonet locking sockets and the heads of the spring terminals. Hence the bulb simply rattles around and breaks contact with the terminals. There is no way to adjust the terminals. In addition, the bulb socket is made of a very poor quality ceramic; my lamp is unused (because it cannot be used!) and yet the socket is starting to crumble away.

Very poor quality product. Avoid.

2.0 out of 5 stars Super-tangly cable, 16 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The plugs are reasonable quality and are attached securely. The cable seems to work as intended.

However, the cable itself is quite tough and springy. It arrives tightly coiled in a bundle about 15cm across. Unfortunately, the cable is "set" in these 15cm coils. No matter how carefully it is uncoiled and straightened over its full length, it acts like a large slinky spring - it instantly recoils and tangles up when trying to use it or re-coil it.

Absolutely horrible to work with.

1.0 out of 5 stars Near useless - poor design, 16 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As with many others, I bought this mount in the hope that an OEM-branded item would be properly designed and suitable for its task. Unfortunately not, it seems. I tried this mount on three different vehicles, and is was useless in each case.

This mount is poorly designed:

(1) The "arms" are fixed length, and thus are very loose on narrow vent grilles;

(2) The screw clamp is very mechanically weak, and cannot grip vent grilles tightly - or stay locked tight;

(3) Worst of all - there is no lateral support at all - the mount can simple swing from side to side. I notice that even some really cheap mounts have a cross-plate to counter this problem.

The end result is that a sat nav just swings around when in the mount. The slightest bump in the movement of the car is sufficient to cause the unit to flop around. This is distracting and thus potentially dangerous. Its hard to believe that Garmin ever actually tested this mount before they sold it.

5.0 out of 5 stars and recommended instead one of the well-known names instead, 25 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this to upgrade my gaming desktop PC. As built, my PC only had a 256GB SSD, and this proved inadequate for Win 8.1 plus just three or four games.

Probably as with most people with limited tekkie abilities, I was very apprehensive at ghosting and then replacing my main PC disk - which would have taken days to reinstall and recover all my applications and files if it had gone wrong. I was also sceptical that a ghosted disk would provide a clean boot-up when installed.

The SSD comes with a DVD containing the propriety Samsung data migration software, and also its "Samsung magician" SSD maintenance programme. Other reviews have criticised the Samsung data migration, and recommended instead one of the well-known names instead. However, I found the Samsung application extremely easy to use and flawless in operation.

Install data migration application, connect new SSD via USB port, start application, confirm new SSD as destination for data, press "start" and then go and have a cup of tea. Switch off PC, open case, disconnect old drive, plug in new SSD, switch back on.

In my case, everything worked and the PC booted up perfectly. Strangely, the only application which was in any way affected was MS Outlook, which for some reason had to rebuild its email database from the IMAP provider I use (Virgin/gmail). No other glitch has come to light.

The "old" SSD turned out to also be a Samsung Pro drive - in theory a better/faster drive than this consumer "Evo" model. However my PC now boots even faster than it did before.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pump. Comes with a big long lead - ..., 25 Oct. 2014
***Does NOT have a float valve. On/off at the power socket only. ***

Thought I'd post that up front as its a common question, and its not clear from the product description.

Excellent pump. Comes with a big long lead - full marks for that - and a set of adaptors for hose sizes. Plug it in, and off it goes. I am very happy that it does not have a float valve, as it such a pain trying to get that type of pump to work at all in water under a yard or so of depth.

I have so far used the pump to drain dirty water from holes I am breaking in the bottom of an old swimming pool. It shifted about ten inches of water from the whole pool in about an hour, and then slurped up muddy/gritty sediment from the holes I'd smashed in the concrete base. Very good flow rate, can drain down to about quarter of an inch depth, reprimes itself if it sucks in air.

Four stars because (a) I do not yet know about the pump's longevity (b) as with most pumps, it could do with the water outlet being repositioned lower or with a swivel orientation - the weight of the hose attached vertically does tip the pump over unless you rig up some sort of support.

Recommended purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Let down by poor design and quality of tablet bracket., 1 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The mounting bracket and flexible column are fine - the column is stiff and robust.

Unfortunately the bracket for the tablet is poorly designed and inadequate for use. The brackets is described as: "New innovative, adjustable tablet holder fits any tablet 7" - 12" with or without a case or skin".

Other systems use (a) a sliding adjustment to fit different size tablets; (b) tablet retainers with lips at the front to prevent tablets falling out.

1. This system simply has two sets of cheap L-shaped retainers that allow just two different tablet sizes. A Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in a typical standard case does not fit - it has to be forced into the brackets;

2. The retainers are a loose sliding fit in the back plate, so inevitably drop out and fall on the vehicle floor when the tablet is moved. See (1);

3. As the retainers have no lip, the tablet is free to fall forward. With my typical Samsung + case, the flap of the case is slightly larger than the tablet - so the flap is help by the retainers, but the tablet itself is free to fall forward.

iTALKonline VERTICAL Side Pouch Carry Case with Belt Loop for Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II S2
iTALKonline VERTICAL Side Pouch Carry Case with Belt Loop for Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II S2

1.0 out of 5 stars Belt pouch for Samsung Galaxy S2, 21 Mar. 2012
Elegant, nicely made pouch....

BUT....

doesn't even come close to fitting a Samsung Galaxy S2 - not even the bare phone without a gel case fitted.

What is wrong with accessory manufacturers? There have been about a million or so SG2s sold - this is probably the world's No1 phone right now - and yet not a single manufacturer can make a belt case which fits the phone. I've bought about five or six cases off Amazon or eBay so far, and they are all rubbish.

I'd give this "no stars" if the review system would let me, as its clearly not fit for purpose and shouldn't be offered for sale under this description.
