Excellent story, well told and acted in a very understated way, yet builds the drama nicely throughout. An interesting look into the perceptions and social history of the day. Very glad I've added this to my collection.

These arrived on time and are great fun! Not quite as big as I expected, but that didn't detract from adding a little a little extra to home film evenings.

I enjoyed this story. It was fun to come across Agatha Christie and Sir Bernard Spilsbury in a readable fiction.

I like this as a thoroughly engageing read. The research into the background seems sound, historical figures appear where necessary, and the flow is fleshed out with the characters who carry the story along from various points of view.

A good enough quick read. The narrative gives a brief insight into the life and times of a family, but I felt that certain areas were glossed over and the reader was left unsure what had happened to certain characters. It left one with the impression that a follow-up story might imerge. My apologies if this was the intention.

The item arrived very quickly after ordering. However, the scratching head was not very well attached to the the rest of the body, and became free after only one use. Having said that, what could one expect for the price? After a tweak. it seems to be workng well enough!

I enjoyed this very much. A shame it was only a short story! Paul Doherty always gives a strong structure to his narratives.

A real "page turner". The story kept me gripped so that, although I didn't want the narrative to end, I just had to keep on reading to discover the next twist or turn. I liked the structure of being involved in the "tale" and then suddenly coming back to the pilgrim group in their own predicament which drew the suspense out nicely. With good-humoured inclusion of some of the pilgrims' characteristics from the original "Canterbury Tales", a particularly nice touch was to have Chaucer himself appear in a cameo role! Paul Doherty always has a deft touch with his historical background. Thoroughly recommended.

Although this is a short story, the sense of suspense is carefully built and the reader is kept guessing along the way.

I like Paul Doherty's writing very much. e always gives a real feeling for the period in which the tales are set and the characters are finely drawn.
