5.0 out of 5 stars A giant of a book, 17 July 2007
This review is from: Mission (Paperback)
This is a giant of a book. An erudite and well written account of East Africa in the nineteen seventies woven around one small event. It shows how one tiny pebble thrown into a pond can cause ripples that spread across time and distance. It's a 'must' read for anyone who is interested in African history and its consequences. A huge achievement in terms of time, commitment and expertise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning...., 16 April 2007
This review is from: Half of a Yellow Sun (Paperback)
This is without doubt the best book I've read this year and I suspect for a long time to come. Having lived in Western Nigeria before, during and after the Biafran war I was of course interested in reading an inside account of that period in Nigeria's history. What I wasn't prepared for was Chimamanda's stunning prose, her ability to see things from every perspective - the way she can make you laugh and cry all on the same page. There aren't enough superlatives to describe this book! I just can't wait for the next...
