McCurry never disappoints in his books and photos. It is a pleasure to see how people all over the world are still fascinated and using the printed paper for information or pleasure. Not the first book on the theme of people and books/paper, but still a personal approach from McCurry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must in any Photographer's library ..., 5 April 2017

A very good read and a clear overview of books puiblished by Magnum's photographers. Of course, as this book is now more or less a year old, new books have been published in the meantime and this kind of books are quickly outdated. Still a good overview of what has been puiblished and a good resource for inspiration to searching/finding more great Photo books..

A Photographer's Journal; Language of the Heart and Eye, Volume 6: The People of Nepal
by Michael Tilton Williams

Some very good photo's, but a pity for the poor printing quality. Also the captions do not bring any relevant information about the pictures. Nevertheless I enjoyed the book as it proves that Nepal is a never ending photographer's delight. But of course we should come to Nepal and its people with respect and love, not only to TAKE pictures. I am sure this book is a good illustration of that attitude. Williams is a man with a heart for Nepal, but maybe the lack of a larger budget for a better looking book and more time for better text is a limitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original approach, 8 July 2013

This book is a very intimate photographic essay on a great place (now lost!!!). If you have ever stayed at the Hotel you will enjoy this book as you may have wandered through its corridors and met some 'remarkable' people as well. Tchnically not the best of photography, but showing wath "painting with light" can result into. Glad to have this in my library...

This review is from: Cuba (Hardcover)
Large format photography, and good as well. Good insight of Cuba through a photographer's eye. very sensitive and sensible photography. Should be on all Cuba fans bookshelves.
Proves that good photography on a subject can not be done just overnight, in a few touristic day trips.

Havana: Intimations of Departure
by John Comino-James
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £30.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect feel, 13 May 2013

A heart warming book with splendid blaclk and white photos. This proves that it takes more than a few days to understand and analyse in photos the feeling and mood of a place like Havana. The author has completely understood Havana, its people, its environment. One of the best in its kind. It is not only a perfect picture guide to the real Havana (with at the end some very personal extra, but much fun to look at), but also a perfectly composed photo book. Top
