This review is from: Apple Machine (Kitchen & Home)
Quite simply this is brilliant. It is really easy to use and does exactly what it says, put your apple on the spikes and wind the handle, it peels the apple and then slices and cores. Please be aware the blades are very very sharp. The device clamps securely to a smooth surface by a suction pad. The kids love seeing the spiral of peeled apple left after. Perfect for dehydrating or cooking with.

Faery Tale: One Woman's Search for Enchantment in the Modern World

4.0 out of 5 stars Faery Travels, 14 Mar. 2013

An interesting mix of a book, part travelogue, part coming to terms with death, part fairy search. A you would expect from an editor of penguin books it is written in an easy style which encourages the reader to keep page turning. What comes across is a person who is desperate to believe that some sort of benign fairy world exists and searches out those who will reinforce that belief. At the same time there is a lurking sceptic at work in the back of her mind, so she is wary of committing to the bold statement that fairies defiantly exist and they are… For me the best part of the book was here journey through parts of Ireland, worst bit was her stay at Glastonbury where its difficult to find someone who doesn’t believe in fairies.

Driven by Hope: Men and Meaning
by James E. Dittes
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Men celebrate who you are, 11 Mar. 2013

What a refreshing book this is, so many just fall into a sort of spiritual self helf, 12 step to being a more what ever. Ditties book explores why we are like we are. He give a great explainantion as to why men cannot ask for directions (It leads to the slaughter of innocents) and draws for men a sort of path way to follow, or a least to explore. His theses that all men feel a sort of existential angst: 'Is that all there is' this is not in itself a bad thing rather it leads onto the quest; 'there must be more' and this is the journey all men are on. How they journey is the real making or breaking of the man.

A time gone by. Excellent read, and I love his choice of lifestyle, he is obviously a very capable chap who just decides to reject the rat race and adventure.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a bloke, 4 Mar. 2012
This review is from: Ted, White, and Blue (Paperback)
What a bloke! What ever you think about Ted he does not pretend to be anything he is not. Even if you disagree with his views, they are forth right and thought provoking. His passion for all sorts of hunting comes through on every page, as did his ego. He is not shy of self promotion and advertises his own blend of coffee and bullets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brain Mush, 4 Mar. 2012
Really enjoyed this book. Some of it is the obvious stuff like the power of TV and the evils of advertising. Some is not so obvious such as the books reports of scientific findings on the lack of development in the frontal lobes of teenagers, due to over exposure to multimedia, is some what worrying.

Middle Aged American Tao : The Novel
Middle Aged American Tao : The Novel
Price: £2.30

3.0 out of 5 stars Busy book, 4 Mar. 2012
A very busy book. Lots of Tai Chi theory and Taoist philosophy. The hero in the book just seems a little too perfect and is fairly smug. He is just involved in to many things: winning Tai Chi competitions, protecting his friends, finding a new Tai Chi form, and almost winning the girl.
