5.0 out of 5 stars Great book to uncover quality earnings!, 8 April 2004
This is a great book to show you how to uncover the quality of earnings of companies. This book uses famous companies as examples (such as Enron, Worldcom, Cisco, Dell, Microsoft, The Gap, Tyco, and Wrigley).
Some companies have lots of earnings (i.e. Enron) yet go busts. Heiserman Jr. explains clearly how we, as investors, should have sensed this impending doom. Only if this book has been out before the disaster, many investors would have been saved from losing their hard earned money.
As importantly, Heiserman Jr. shows how to find great companies with consistent quality earnings (i.e Microsoft and Dell) that will multiple your investments.
The methods employed by Heiserman Jr. were calculating "defensive earnings" and "enterprising earnings", and then use these earnings with the reported earnings, to plot the trends of the earnings.
The easiest way to understand and benefit from these methods is to buy this book and read it! I've really enjoyed it and bravo to Heiserman Jr. for writing such a good book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Berkshire Hathaway = Great Managers, 6 Dec. 2003
To understand Berkshire Hathaway, one has to understand the rare group of excellent managers that it possesses. Although Warren Buffett is believed to transform Berkshire Hathaway from a textile company to the greatest investing machine, one has to know that without great managers running all the fully owned subsidaries, Berkshire would not last for the next hundred years.
Robert Miles has dedicated a great amount of effort and time into producing such a wonderful book. This book is not only important for the long term term shareholders of Berkshire but also for the acquisitive CEOs. All CEOs could learn from this book how to make proper acqusitions with good managers in place.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must Read Book, 10 July 2003
This is a great book that makes Warren Buffett so, so successful. Margin of Safety.... the 3 most important words of investing...are very clearly illustrated. If this principle is deeply ground into the mind of investor, you will achieve remarkable wealth with the highest sefety applied to portfolio.
The second equally important principle is understanding the Mr Market's mood. If you understand the bizzare manic-depressive mood of Mr Market... you will be able to take advantage of poor Mr Market and benefit greatly from it.
If Warren Buffett thinks this is a great book....then surely, we will feel the same too. He who follows and learns passionately from the great master will be great too! =)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good bargain & Great Ease of Use!, 10 July 2003
I received this great digital camera this morning and I have been using it the whole day to take photos...of everything...the soft toys, dustbins and unexplicably, my wash room. It is so, so easy to use. The easy guide provided is very easy to follow and within 5 to 10 mins... you can start shotting everything you wish...just like me.
As a first time buyer of digital camera, I am really amazed by its simplicity and ease of use. Most importantly it is a great bargain in my opinion.
The only drawback, is that it doesn't come with a recharger and rechargeable batteries. I just finished using my 2 AA batteries today!! Well, partly, its my fault cos I'm trying out the movie mode!! Yep, absolutely right... the movie mode it cool..but no sounds though.
All in all, I highly recommend it to first time buyer... but do get a recharger and rechargeable batteries. Hope this review with be of some help.

Business the Bill Gates Way: 10 Secrets of the Worlds Richest Business Leader (Big Shots Series)
by Des Dearlove
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, Captivating and Superb Book!!, 22 Mar. 2001
I really yearn to know the secrets behind great, amazing businessman, especially Bill Gates. The only problem is I don't feel like spending disproportionate amount of time studying this great people because I have lots of things to do and I would prefer to have a concise yet truthful information about him. Well, this book serves this purpose just right! I love this book extremely because it is just concise yet interesting and easy to follow.
I am amazed by the standard that Bill Gates holds for his massive yet productive company, Microsoft! Even though this company is huge, he tries to break it down into many departments and organises it like a small, productive company.
His attitude of taking no prisoner in business competition is really, really daunting. I could imagine how other software giants like Oracle hate him! However, he is the man to look for if you want a great leader with clear vision.
In short, read this book! I have read it twice in 1 month!
