5.0 out of 5 stars This book is an excellent introduction to Java programming and the use of NetBeans ..., 12 Dec. 2014

This book is an excellent introduction to Java programming and the use of NetBeans to write, compile and run projects. It uses the creation of mods for Minecraft as examples. I have just bought a second copy, for my nine year old grandson who knows more about Minecraft than I do, and is eager to write his own mods. Which of us will succeed first is by no means certain - and I have experience in programming with Delphi, a not dis-similar language to Java!

This item is brilliant. It is well balanced and feels just like a conventional artist's brush. It works well with my windows 8.1 notebook.

3.0 out of 5 stars Careless editing, 9 Nov. 2013

This book has a good storyline spoilt for me by the careless editing: words missed out or the wrong word used. Spell-checkers are not enough books should be read by an 'editor'.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Remarkable Book, 27 July 2013

This book should be a compulsive read for anyone who has contact with an autistic child or adult. For parents and family it gives understanding and hope. For carers, shopkeepers, traffic wardens, police, teachers .... it could help with their approach and understanding in any situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gandhi, 16 Mar. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a book, written by Gandhi himself, about how he came to believe in the issues for which he fought. Covering his growing up in India, his training in law in England, his fighting for justice for Indians in South Africa, and his growing non-violent involvement in the struggle for India's independence. Perhaps the key characteristics that comes through are his honesty and integrity. A remarkable book about a remarkable man!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Engineer's youth, 25 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a most fascinating book. Written by an engineer with an interest in steam engines, ships, telephones and more. A personal delight in the London of his youth gives a more vivid account than a professional writer or historian could achieve. This is a book I shall re-read many times.
