5.0 out of 5 stars So Much Better Than The Standard Charger, 10 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The DJI Phantom User Manual suggests that you should only use their chargers. Pity then that the standard charger that comes with the Phantom 3 Advanced can't even charge the Battery and Remote Controller at the same time and lasted only a few charges before it packed up altogether. Of course, you could always get the more advanced charger at a cost of £50 but this Smatree Charger does a great job for £20 less.

5.0 out of 5 stars A High Quality Trekking Pole for Photographers, 2 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Leki Trekking Poles have set the standard for many years. Just like many other products made in Germany, the quality is there to see and feel. It's a sturdy looking pole, having a larger girth than a lot of poles you may come across. However, being carbon, the weight is kept down. The SpeedLock system is just so much quicker and easier than the "twist to lock" system which can be a real pain at times and is prone to failing in a number of ways with wear and tear.

Having the screw thread for a camera lets one use the pole as a monopod which is ideal for smaller compact cameras. It's easy to use and hides away nicely within the handle when not in use.

If you're a keen walker and photographer like myself, this bit of kit is pretty indispensible. It's not cheap but as the old saying goes... "you get what you pay for" and this pole won't let you down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sony take note! This should be included on the camera to begin with., 23 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Like so many others have said, this really should have been an integral part of the camera to begin with. Finishes the camera off really well and gives the user much more assurance when holding and handling a VERY expensive compact.

5.0 out of 5 stars The "Bentley" of Xbox Controllers, 3 Nov. 2015
At almost 3 times the price of the standard controller, this ain’t a cheap accessory and one that probably isn’t worth buying for your average snotty nosed teen tearaway glued to his Xbone 24x7 mashing away on GTA V. However, I guess it’s why some people buy Bentleys instead of Fords – a) because they can afford to and b) because it’s going to be so much more in terms of quality and user experience.

At the time of writing this review (November 2015), Microsoft have gleefully announced that there is a worldwide shortage of this product because demand has been much higher than expected. Seems that the price hasn’t put many people off and owning a top quality, highly configurable 1st party controller is… well… just worth it. I seem to have nabbed the only one in stock at my local Game store.

Why did I buy one? Well, firstly because I can afford to (mine cost £120) and secondly because I have a disability in my right arm which extends down to my hand. It means that, although I can use a standard controller, having the extra controls (paddles) on the Elite and the flexibility of configuration makes a big difference for me when it comes to playing some games. Even if I could source somewhere which built custom controllers, I’m pretty sure it would cost me similar or more than this one to get one customised for my particular needs.

It might not be gold-plated or diamond encrusted but this is definitely the “Bentley” of Xbox Controllers. Not much in the way of plastic anywhere and a very solid feel. I’m pretty sure I’ll be having to replace the Xbox console itself before the Elite starts showing any signs of wear and tear.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Missed Opportunity, 31 May 2015
This review is from: Bloodborne (PS4) (Video Game)
I am completely baffled as to why a games developer would want to consciously and purposefully limit their revenue from a platform exclusive and deny the casual gaming majority an opportunity to enjoy a wonderfully crafted and visually awesome game such as Bloodborne but that is precisely what From Software have achieved.

I’m no marketing expert but, hey guys, I’ve got a great idea on how you could have multiplied the revenue from this game tenfold, placed it amongst the ranks of all-time best selling AAAs and still have kept the game as challenging and difficult for the hardcore minority for which you have catered for unreservedly. Simple, just provide an optional “Easy Mode” like what most other games provide. The only people who would be against this, of course, would be the narrow-minded morons who are, most probably, too young to legally own the game anyway and vocally express their discontent on anything and everything (usually with incomprehensible spelling and grammar) on the gaming forums. Guess what you idiots! No one is forcing you to switch this option on.

I would so much have liked to have immersed myself in the spooky, atmospheric, horror filled gothic world of Yarnham but, alas, haven’t bothered because I, like so many others, have simply been put off by the game’s ridiculous difficulty.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nicely Constructed with a Good Sound (apart from the snare), 22 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Meinl American Cajon looks nice and is reasonably well constructed for a lower priced model. The variety of sounds and tonal separation is very good. The one thing I couldn't get on with was the snare mechanism. Too loose and it made the bass sound awful, too tight and it produced a nasty overtone (even with the wires taped). I ended up removing the snare altogether and buying the Meinl Side Mounted Snare.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece of Video Gaming, 29 Sept. 2013
The latest in a successful franchise which is "Grand Theft Auto", one that has taken 5 years and around $130 million to produce. There's been an enormous amount of hype as there usually is with most successful game franchise releases which now seem to be on a par with A-list blockbuster movies. This one, however, pulled in $800 million in its first day - way more than most blockbuster movies.

Of course, there's always a chance that the game doesn't match the high expectations when this is the case but, with GTA V, I think it's fair to say it has surpassed expectation by quite a margin and is now being billed as the "greatest video game ever" by many if not most pundits.

One of the aspects of the game that makes it a true masterpiece is the brilliant character acting that bonds you so closely to the game's three main protagonists - Michael, Trevor and Franklin. Michael, the retired career criminal with a dysfunctional family thrust back into "the game" by a few unfortunate events. Franklin, the young hood desperate to make some real money and, of course, Trevor, the complete off the rails psycho who knows no limits to his violent activities. They all seem so real that you soon find yourself becoming very curious as to just who the real life guys were who did the voice-overs (they did more than voice-over apparently. They also provided the realistic movement of the animated characters, called motion acting.) Obviously not alone in this curiosity as the three gentleman in question - Ned Luke, Steven Ogg and Shawn Fonteno are fast becoming stars in their own right and quite rightly so. If any actors deserved Oscars, these guys do.

It should be very clearly understood from all who consider purchasing GTA V - this is a strictly adult game. It is NOT for and should NOT be played by anyone who isn't an adult or, for that matter, any adult of a sensitive nature. It is rife with extremely bad language, it has strong sexual content, has extreme violence and allows you to freely go around killing or mugging people, stealing cars, robbing stores or banks and, pretty much anything that's illegal in the real world. If it were a film it would probably cast Al (Heat) Pacino, Jack (The Shining) Nicholson and Will Smith in the starring roles. Directed by Quentin Tarantino with the aim of making "Reservoir Dogs" look like a children's bedtime story. It is slightly worrying that one just knows, because of the hype, publicity it is getting and the fact everybody is talking about this game that under 18s will inevitably get their hands on it - not a good idea in my opinion.

The open world of Los Santos is about as real as any virtual world could be. Other car drivers do stupid things and will shout obscenities when you do something stupid, people walking about react in a very lifelike way, there's so much going on and there's so much you can do. There are games within the game. Golf, Tennis, Darts, Street Racing, Boat Racing, Parachuting, you can even practice Yoga. Fly a plane or helicopter, pilot a submersible looking for spaceship parts and the list goes on and on, this game should have you occupied well beyond the main storyline missions and we have yet to see what GTA Online will provide.

There's no doubt about it, it is a masterpiece and one that will go down the annals of gaming history as one of the best of its generation. Well done Rockstar, you certainly pulled this one off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! A Shooter that ticks all the boxes., 13 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I will keep this review short, simple and straightforward, leaving it for others to give thorough analysis. I am (and always have been) a "casual gamer" who enjoys having a blast with 1st person shooters for a few hours a week after work. I am not interested in playing online which I feel would be a complete waste of time as I'd be spending more time watching myself get annihilated and respawning than I would actually being of use to a team. This means, unfortunately, that most of the cool multiplayer game modes, maps, weaponry, etc. are generally out of bounds and once the single-player campaign has been completed, the game is destined to the shelf or to be traded in. This has been the case for most shooters I have bought. I'm fairly confident in saying that there's quite a few of us around that fit the particular description above.

Enter COD Black Ops II. A game which not only has the usual single-player campaign and multiplayer features but actually gives more consideration to players like me with a fun Zombie (arcade style) mode and a Local Multiplayer mode which allows me to play fully customisable multiplayer games without having to join other online games (employing bots for both teams at various levels of difficulty). To me, this is the kind of game I've been wanting for a very long time and one that will see me enjoy playing for a long time to come.

Thank you Treyarch.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Godsend for people who are deaf in one ear., 9 Feb. 2012

As the title states. I am totally deaf in one ear and have been frustrated at the sheer range of headphones available on the market but with no single ear option for any of them. This satisfies a "non optional" requirement perfectly. A big thank you to the manufacturer.
