3.0 out of 5 stars The Signal on DVD, 11 May 2015
It struck me that The Signal was an attempt to create a 'cult' film. It was reasonably acted and certainly well photographed but the script was lacking. Some great ideas came about which, if expanded upon would have turned a reasonable film into a good one despite it's slow moving demeanor. Yet again, another new release which might only deserve streaming as opposed to purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bargain..., 8 May 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had recently purchased a Polatab Q10.3 tablet which has unusual dimensions and was having difficulty sourcing a suitable case. Seeing that this Case Logic had a V shaped back, I thought that it might be suitable if I inverted the tablet thus allowing the rear speakers to be uncovered when using it in the stand mode.
Looking around I saw that one seller was advertising the case for less than £3 which included postage and so took a gamble that not only would it fit but that it would arrive. I was surprised when it popped through the door a few days later and I can confirm that it is not only very well made but that it fit the tablet well. It is similar to an enbossed hardback book, with stitched edges. The inside isn't soft but the hook assemblies stop the lid of the case touching the screen in normal use and the stand mechanism works perfectly in horizontal mode.
The V shape does allow the speakers to be uncovered, and in my case I have the tablet inverted which makes no difference as the display rights itself.
The case is a little larger than a fitted one might be, but if you have a 10.1 tablet that a dedicated case is unavailable, this one is well worth a try especially at a bargain price.

Mankind's Last Stand [DVD]
Mankind's Last Stand [DVD]
Dvd ~ Joe Reegan
Price: £7.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Slow starter..., 5 May 2015
This review is from: Mankind's Last Stand [DVD] (DVD)
For me, this film tries to be too clever and perhaps they should have stuck to the basic premise and relied less on the 'interviewing" of the characters which really added nothing in the way of empathy. Some reasonable action scenes but it does take a while to get going and it's not a film I would recommend to buy...wait for free streaming!

4.0 out of 5 stars Get spaced out!, 3 May 2015
Excellent album of it's genre with class tracks by Carbon Based Lifeforms, Asura, Solar Fields etc. Few 'fillers' but that's to be expected with a 50 track sellection. Just one point, the Amazon price far exceeds that of another top supplier of music downloads, so if possible, shop around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasently surprised...and see update, 3 May 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I wanted an inexpensive tablet primarily for internet searching but it needed to be faster than those I already own. i also wanted a screen with a larger pixel count than 1000x600 which most of the other budget competitors have and I hit upon this Polatab Q10.3. Amazon had reduced the price by £10 and were fulfilling the orders which I always prefer as a minimum.
The tablet arrived safely and it was time to unpack. I was surprised as to the extent of the accessories...a HDMI lead to connect to a screen, USB adaptor, headphones aswell as a leaded mains charger. The instruction manual is just about passable but having other Android based products not really required. There is a screen protector ready fitted and, after giving the tablet an extra couple of hours charge it was ready to go.
Fortunately there is little in the way of 'useless' apps pre installed thus saving it's limited memory for the user to decide what he or she wants. The tablet connected to my Sky router first time and showed an excellent signal strength and so I downloaded a free antivirus from the Play store and my favourite browser.
The tablet is quite nippy thanks to it's quad core processor, and graphic laden sites proved to be no problem either. The touch screen works well although it could be a little more fluid in operation. The screen has a ppi count of 1200x800, and while not so well contrasted as a Samsung unit, is more than good enough for what I required. There does seem to be a 'lazy' spot to the mid left section of the screen but I simply zoom in further to ensure a positive touch. This could, however, be more to do with the site in question as much as the tablet.
There are two rear facing speakers built in which have little volume especially when a case is used, but the headphone out jack works really well. Bluetooth worked brilliantly sending music to a Stereo system and also transferring files back and forward to my other tablets. All buttons function as they should and are positive in their action. Two cameras are present and these are, next to the speakers, the poorest attributes of the tablet...thankfully I personally have no need for these and so it has no bearing on my personal score.
The tablet, as you could imagine given the price, is plastic cased but seems solidly put together. While the tablet face is black, the rear is white and has no logo present. The size of the unit is approx 257mm wide, 163mm high and about 9mm thick. Battery wise, it has so far exceeled 4 hours between full charges so not as good as the more expensive tablets but better than most laptops. After two initial charges of 6 hours, it seems to fully charge now in around 4 hours.
For the price paid, this is an excellent 10.1 inch tablet that suits my purpose. If it lasts 12 months then it will be on par with most others on the market and so it's obvious cost cutting could be forgiven...give it a try, you may be pleasently surprised.
Update
A week or so in and the tablet is still working well. I have disabled a few of the pre installed apps which are not required and further adjusted the screen brightness and now I am getting almost 5 hours of use between charge. I was struggling to find a case but took a chance on a Case Logic Surefit universal folio case for 9 and 10 inch tablets, from an Amazon seller for only £3 including postage (!) and this has fitted the bill. The backing of this case which holds the tablet is a V shape, which means that the tablet can be inverted so that the speakers are uncovered when in stand mode. While a little larger than a dedicated case might be, it's an absolute bargain especially when you see other sellers wanting over £20 for them! All I need is a spare screen protector and i'm set....I will further update should there be any issues or the like.

White House Down [DVD] [2013]
White House Down [DVD] [2013]
Dvd ~ Channing Tatum
Price: £5.00

2.0 out of 5 stars And in second place comes...., 27 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
White House Down comes in a poor second to Olympus Has Fallen. Acting from secondary characters eclipse those of messrs Tatum and Foxx and while the basic storyline may have had a little more 'meat' than Olympus, it became messier as the film progressed. Sets seemed good but action sequences lost some realism and accuracy. If you need to choose between the two films, go for Olympus and leave this one on the shelf.

L'Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Gel 100 ml

5.0 out of 5 stars New favourite..., 24 April 2015
I usually use Gillette aftershave gell but it's getting harder to source at a reasonable price so decided to give this L'Oreal product a try. It has a lighter less 'soapy' fragrance than the Gillette's, and it dries quicker but without affecting the skin. It certainly cools after shaving with a blade and can be found at very reasonable prices if you look around the supermarkets, so much so I purchased three bottles! Recommended

2.0 out of 5 stars Issues..., 23 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was really looking forward to a faster tablet and given this items price and positive reaction, I thought it would tick all the boxes.
First impressions were good...the tablet came well packaged (thanks Amazon!) and was well presented in it's own box but with a seperate charger unit. I let the tablet charge for a couple of hours before turning on, and took the time to read the supplied instructions. This was the first disappointment as they are basically generic Windows 8 screenshots...nothing really about the tablet itself, such as charging or expected battery life etc.
On turning on you are greeted with Microsoft's welcome screen and and it was simple to re enter my Microsoft account. I then made sure that security was on and updated and went on to download all Windows updates which did take some time. In use the tablet has a good screen for browsing web pages but if you go onto the desktop it really isn't large enough unless you tinker with screen settings to make text and icons larger. I think that Windows 8.1 is really ill suited for a tablet of this size, it certainly seems more of a trial than Android, even on a 7 inch screen.
After all the updates, battery life was down to 20% so I decided to power down and give it a full charge.
I let the unit charge for a couple of hours and turned it back on. As I touched the on/off switch I could feel that the corner of the screen had lifted from the body of the tablet...it would press back onto it's adhesive and spring back off. Presumably the adhesive had lost it's adhesion due to the heat generated by charging. I also noted that the tablet had only charged by some 22% after the two hours which I consider pretty poor. Needless to say, the tablet is now on it's way back to Amazon.
I know that this is a budget tablet but even so, I could not accept it's faults as it suggests a short lifespan. I am pleased for those users who have found the tablet so useful, but for me I couldn't live with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Eye candy..., 20 April 2015
As a visual spectacle of all things CGI, Age of Extinction succeeds but as other reviewers complain, it is overlong. The plot is a little more intricate than the three other Transformer movies and I am sure that it was designed to paves the way for further films. Each of the characters brought something to the storyline but the quality of the acting could have been better. Picture quality on DVD was great and dialogue clear and distinct (unlike some of my more recent watches). If you are a fan of the franchise it should appeal, if not, you may find it just too much.

2.0 out of 5 stars Predictable..., 13 April 2015
This review is from: Ouija [DVD] [2014] (DVD)
Predictable American supernatural thriller with the usual dumbed down script. A few 'jump' scares but nothing major. Photography was pretty good which helped in a couple of the scenarios, but all in all a film to buy only when the price has plummeted.
