L'Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Gel 100 ml
L'Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Gel 100 ml
Offered by Xtras Online
Price: £5.49

5.0 out of 5 stars New favourite..., 24 April 2015
I usually use Gillette aftershave gell but it's getting harder to source at a reasonable price so decided to give this L'Oreal product a try. It has a lighter less 'soapy' fragrance than the Gillette's, and it dries quicker but without affecting the skin. It certainly cools after shaving with a blade and can be found at very reasonable prices if you look around the supermarkets, so much so I purchased three bottles! Recommended

2.0 out of 5 stars Issues..., 23 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was really looking forward to a faster tablet and given this items price and positive reaction, I thought it would tick all the boxes.
First impressions were good...the tablet came well packaged (thanks Amazon!) and was well presented in it's own box but with a seperate charger unit. I let the tablet charge for a couple of hours before turning on, and took the time to read the supplied instructions. This was the first disappointment as they are basically generic Windows 8 screenshots...nothing really about the tablet itself, such as charging or expected battery life etc.
On turning on you are greeted with Microsoft's welcome screen and and it was simple to re enter my Microsoft account. I then made sure that security was on and updated and went on to download all Windows updates which did take some time. In use the tablet has a good screen for browsing web pages but if you go onto the desktop it really isn't large enough unless you tinker with screen settings to make text and icons larger. I think that Windows 8.1 is really ill suited for a tablet of this size, it certainly seems more of a trial than Android, even on a 7 inch screen.
After all the updates, battery life was down to 20% so I decided to power down and give it a full charge.
I let the unit charge for a couple of hours and turned it back on. As I touched the on/off switch I could feel that the corner of the screen had lifted from the body of the tablet...it would press back onto it's adhesive and spring back off. Presumably the adhesive had lost it's adhesion due to the heat generated by charging. I also noted that the tablet had only charged by some 22% after the two hours which I consider pretty poor. Needless to say, the tablet is now on it's way back to Amazon.
I know that this is a budget tablet but even so, I could not accept it's faults as it suggests a short lifespan. I am pleased for those users who have found the tablet so useful, but for me I couldn't live with it.

Transformers: Age of Extinction [DVD] [2014]
Transformers: Age of Extinction [DVD] [2014]
Dvd ~ Mark Wahlberg
Price: £6.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Eye candy..., 20 April 2015
As a visual spectacle of all things CGI, Age of Extinction succeeds but as other reviewers complain, it is overlong. The plot is a little more intricate than the three other Transformer movies and I am sure that it was designed to paves the way for further films. Each of the characters brought something to the storyline but the quality of the acting could have been better. Picture quality on DVD was great and dialogue clear and distinct (unlike some of my more recent watches). If you are a fan of the franchise it should appeal, if not, you may find it just too much.

Ouija [DVD] [2014]
Ouija [DVD] [2014]
Dvd ~ Olivia Cooke
Price: £10.60

2.0 out of 5 stars Predictable..., 13 April 2015
This review is from: Ouija [DVD] [2014] (DVD)
Predictable American supernatural thriller with the usual dumbed down script. A few 'jump' scares but nothing major. Photography was pretty good which helped in a couple of the scenarios, but all in all a film to buy only when the price has plummeted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense, brutal and touching..., 6 April 2015

This review is from: Lone Survivor [DVD] (DVD)
Probably the best war film released in recent years, it is intense, brutal and touching in equal measure. The cast give excellent performances and perhaps Lone Survivor best illustrates how underrated Mark Wahlberg is. If you can put aside any political viewpoints you might have about the conflict that was Afghanistan, this is a great movie and one based upon true events.

The Imitation Game [DVD]
The Imitation Game [DVD]
Dvd ~ Benedict Cumberbatch
Price: £9.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Captivating Cumberbatch..., 30 Mar. 2015
This review is from: The Imitation Game [DVD] (DVD)
Well crafted and brilliantly acted but not fully acurate movie of the breaking of the Enigma codes used in the Second World War. Benedict Cumberbatch gives a mesmerising performance as Alan Turing, a socially awkward but brilliant mathematician. With only a fleeting nod to the previous work in Poland at that time, it is estimated that the work Turing and his associates carried out shortened the war by some two years, and saved countless lives. An excellent depiction of 1940's Britain and a well chosen cast make for film that is well worth watching.

NAD VISO 1 Bluetooth Active
NAD VISO 1 Bluetooth Active

5.0 out of 5 stars Genuine bargain!, 26 Mar. 2015
There can be no doubt that the Nad Viso 1 ipod dock represents superb value at the £179 I paid for the white version. Although construction of the outer casework is plastic, it is of a high quality with the majority of the controls on the metal band that holds the docking portion of the device. The Viso is pretty much ovoid in shape but with each end flattened. The left hand side has a bass port and the right side the on/off switch. In the white colour it looks less of a 'lump' and is, in my opinion, 'easier on the eye'.
The unit measures approximately 20 inches wide, 10.5 high and 11.5 deep. In the box you will find a remote controller, two mains leads (2 pin and 3 pin), a quick start guide and a cleaning cloth. Additionally the unit itself is sheathed by a soft cloth bag so that the styrene packing doesn't mar the shiny finish. Finally, there is a plastic dust cap taped into the ipod dock multi pin plug which will need removing prior to use.
And now, the best bit! I firstly tried the Viso in it's bluetooth mode. On turn on and sellecting this mode, my Samsung Galaxy tablet immediately recognised the new device and paired and connected first time. Streaming Spotify it sounded wonderful straight out of the box. Bass is deep but controlled, Midrange is expressive and well projected and Treble sweet but detailed. Considering the units width, it gives a considerable soundstage when placed approximately central in our living room. Next I tried a docked Ipod Touch and it was even better! More expressive, faster to react to transients and intonation in vocals beautifully expressed.
By now, you probably guess that I am impressed! I do not regret a single pound of the price I paid and I believe it is a genuine bargain. My Viso was supplied by Sevenoaks who gave exceptional service, and it was even supplied with the latest firmware. Lastly, if you are not familiar with the brand, NAD are a premium manufacturer of all things HiFi and have been going over 40 years...they also supply a 2 year warranty on their equipment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works brilliantly..., 25 Mar. 2015
I had made my original purchase from an Amazon market place seller and after two days was told that they had no stock...very poor! I resorted to Ebay and received it a few days later. The cable is very well constructed and the plugs of a high quality. I needed the cable to replace a freebie supplied with a Topping VX1 amplifier and this Lindy works brilliantly, reinforcing bass frequencies which were originally a little lacking. Anyone who is outputting audio via USB into a DAC with these particular type plugs should find this cable a most economic upgrade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality..., 25 Mar. 2015
Good quality discs and thus far, no failures while being used for DVD video backups. I purchased mine from a local supermarket who had them on sale at almost 25% less than the current Amazon price...always worth checking!

Divergent [DVD] [2014]
Divergent [DVD] [2014]
Dvd ~ Kate Winslet
Price: £4.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Predictable dystopia, but entertaining..., 23 Mar. 2015
This review is from: Divergent [DVD] [2014] (DVD)
A quite reasonable post apocalyptic movie taken from the book by Veroiica Roth. The film is somewhat slow moving and perhaps slightly too long, but it still managed to hold attention and was entertaining enough. Nice to see Kate Winslet showing the younger cast members how it's done even though she was featured only sparingly. I certainly didn't think that Divergent came across as a movie just for teens or for female viewers, but out and out action fans might want to give it a miss.
