1.0 out of 5 stars A not-so-total rock review by only a few experts....., 26 Dec. 2016
This is a complete waste of time and money. First of all they review only a handful of Supertramp's hits plus songs that weren't even hits at all. Among the "experts" are some really talented guys like Iain Jennings, hell if he were the only one reviewing these songs then I would have loved it but there are also some complete nincompoops here on this DVD and one of them is particularly annoying because he has nothing better to do than to compare Supertramp classics to todays standards. He actually uses billsh*t phrases like "if Fool's Overture would have had less instruments then it would have stood the test of time and be a much more popular song today". Good lord, give these guys some brains please and prevent them from critizising a legendary band!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Jules Verne would turn in his grave seeing this, 19 July 2009
They took his masterpiece, raped it and filtered the remains through the hollywood machine. Out comes a movie with terrible acting, a terrible plot, the lousiest special effects known to mankind and every 3D-clichee you can think of...... totally unwatchable to anyone over the age of 5.

Why in god's name? WHY?

1.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT do justice to Arthur Brown...., 5 Sept. 2008
This review is from: Fire: The Anthology (Audio CD)
Arthur Brown? Who is Arthur Brown...? Ahh yes, that guy that did "Fire" decades ago. This is the common answer when you ask people who Arthur Brown is. But there is more than meets the ear. Arthur Brown is a very talented singer, his soul voice is remarkable. Since "Fire" he made more then a dozen records, some good, some not. Come on, whom we're kidding? Arthur did make some terrible crap in his career. That is a fact. Some in collaboration with other musicians, some solo.

Then this record came. Entitled "The Story of Arthur Brown". Implying that this must be the ultimate record for all Brown enthusiasts to buy. It is not. This record is a total disgrace and does not do justice to Arthur's talent. If you want to know what Arthur is capable of then try to find the "Kingdom Come" trilogy and "Faster than the speed of light" with Vincent Crane.

Do not buy this album. It will leave the not-so-die-hard-fans irritated and confused as it contains some of the rather worst songs Arthur ever did with only a few of his more successfull songs. It is rather a very crappy compilation. You might miss better and worthy songs like "Helen with the Sun", "Dance", "Cromatic Alley", "Welcome", "Pale Stars", "Swimfish", "Desert Floor", "Time Captains", "Faster than the Speed of Light" even the weird "Santa put a spell on me". To name a few. All much better than this experimental compilation.

I wish there was an option to give zero stars but unfortunately there isn't. You can find "Fire" on every other rock compilation out there. Hell, on "Tantric Lover" Arthur did a re-make of "Fire" in 2000. Even that could have been included instead of the terrible Krupps Remix. So, who is there left to buy this record? The die hard fan is certainly not interested. The regular guy in the street who only knows "Fire" get's scared away from this one. The average Arthur Brown listener too. A worthless attempt to lure your money out of your pocket. Believe me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant masterpiece., 7 Aug. 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
To make it short, this is not a horror movie. It's a drama and a thriller. A movie which builds up the tension into a climax that leaves you speechles and thinking. Just like "Heavenly Creatures". The actors are above brilliant, the directing is superb. The dialogues intense. It is based on the Papin murder case which took place in France, 1933. Two sisters brutally murdered their employer and her daughter in intense rage.

Since the two sisters become alienated from their surrounding world they have only each other to turn to. The harsh words and mischief from their employer make them flee ito an incestious relationship. The outcome leads to the above mentioned crime. This movie certainly deserved a bigger release with more advertising. Unfortunately it remains an independent release on a small label. Joely Richardson later starred in "Event Horizon" by the way.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absurd, inhumane, disgusting and above all... HERESY., 7 Aug. 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Aristocrats [DVD] (DVD)
HOW can a joke, which if practiced and lived, would put you behind bars or on the electric chair easily, survive that long? It is truly frightening to hear some comic veterans and loveable charactes talk about atrocities, incest, rape, murder and god-knows-what horrors else. HOW can a sane mind invent insane stuff like this? Are they really so far out of their minds that they have imaginations this wild and absurd? This "joke" is an insult to all jokes. It is not funny, never was an never will be to a broader audience. It will always stay in it's niche. Only sick and twisted people can tell this joke. Even sicker people will laugh about it. Let's hope that god has mercy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Rock masterpiece, 2 Aug. 2008
Not just for the Ken Hensley or Uriah Heep fan. This is a true classic rock masterpiece that rocks your very sofa. Ken Hensley lays down his autobiography in music with a great cast of musicians. You can feel the vibes and their sheer passion for music. They manage to keep you rocking and listening throughout the concert without glamour and gigawatt lightshows or other fancy stuff. This concert and experience ought to be a guide to every wannabe-rockband thesedays.

A great entry to this DVD set are the titles "Free me", "July Morning" and a totally revamped, magnificent version of "Lady in Black" where Eve Gallagher totally goes bananas. And if that doesn't leave you sweatin' on the sofa, "Gypsy" comes as an encore to totally rock you off your feet. Great DVD set which you will enjoy for months on end.

4 stars because the DVD cover totally sucks. (Reminds me of those cheap asian bootlegs)
