5.0 out of 5 stars Very good value and a good sound too., 16 Feb. 2015

It'd be churlish not to give 5 stars. Loud and fat in the neck position, loud and wiryphat in the bridge with treble that doesn't cut teeth like the single coil did. Easy to fit, but the thin wires will test your wire stripping skills. Took all of 20 minutes start to finish to replace the neck+bridge pickups with these.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, clear, 'next step' book., 26 Jan. 2015

Great for tying fingers in knots. Think you can play 'twinkle twinkle'? :-)
Good, well structured and frustrating at times in equal measures. The frustration is mine with me, not the book. What seems so easy is quite tricky, and the trickier looking sections flow from the fingers.
A good challenge to take your ukulele playing up a notch and make your uke sing.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK, do the job, but make sure you're OK with the size of them., 26 Jan. 2015

I've not had one fail yet. They do the job but on a crowded pedal board, the connectors may annoy some as they seem huge, leading to wasted space unless pedals are 'staggered'. Not an issue for me, but maybe for some.
No noticeable drop in sound quality, neither do I get fizzles or crackles if the cable moves.

Received within 7 days. From China!. I'm making a set of series/parallel boxes for wiring cabs together with impedance in mind + it never hurts to have some spares. All have worked so far. Not too firm with the tip connector so your cable doesn't require a team of shires to extract, yet firm enough to hold even a heavy speaker cable.

If you need one, this is as good a daisy-chain as anything else.
Received within 3 days and use it every day. One of those items you hopefully don't notice it working, it just does. Not much else to put really.

5.0 out of 5 stars This phaser stuns., 22 Jan. 2015

This is a well built item externally. There is some glue blodge in mine, but that has no effect on the sound. Mine rattled when it arrived, as all will. It's the flylead for the battery, nothing more.
Connecting it to my PSU and I started to play. How can such good sound come from such an inexpensive unit?. Uli does it again. These Vintage FX are top quality.
This unit is well covered elsewhere, so all I'll add is play. Not just strumming away, but in terms of -where- in the chain it is inserted. It sounds good straight into the front of the amp, sounds good before an overdrive, good after too. I prefer the 'tone' switch in the down position, your mileage will vary. I then tried it in the loop. Before delay(s) gave me the best results of all in the loop. Let the preamp do its work, then phase it, but then, I run an overdrive(s) as a crunch into a fairly clean amp.
This, for me, doesn't just give other pedals a run for their money, it quashes them. I get no drop in volume, no tonal suck no matter where I place it signal wise. If you want/need wet/dry mixing and your amp doesn't have a parallel loop, this isn't for you. For the rest of us, for the price of a good takeaway curry, it is superb in both sonic terms and value terms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pocket money for a fine overdrive., 19 Jan. 2015

Fantastic overdrive. Has a range from just crispy to, well, too much for me. I use it more as a clean(ish) boost, at which it is really very good indeed. Wind up the O/D control, and there is a very satisfying range of sounds in there. Bit awkward to adjust, but a tippex stripe on the knobs helps to indicate where in the sweep they are. The tone control is limited in its range, but does work for taking a little treble off on single coils, or adding some to humbuckers.
In the hand, the switch feels crap. On the board and underfoot, it works fine. The LED is bright. Very bright.
You really can't go wrong, even if it is just used as a clean(ish) boost. It does go from almost clean, through crispy into crunchy, then strays into territory more akin to \m/ metal-y distortion.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh pedal., 19 Jan. 2015

A very mixed bag in terms of performance. Makes an excellent whammy. Far better than whammopain that is the Floyd or synchronised ( as in all strings drop out of tune in sync ). Avoid the Floyd with one of these.
The flutter feature is quite nice too, giving the sound of a 'drop then shimmy', then it goes a bit to pot.
It can be used in detune mode, but the sound it makes is very synthetic and quite nasty. The harmoniser function is, well, how to put this without using the term shyte...Nope, it's shyte. Poor tracking and vile audio excrescence. I was hoping for some Mr. Brian May, I got James instead. And he was drunk. Think stylophone audio overlay and it gets very confused indeed.
So, for whammy goodness, buy two as one reviewer wrote. Can't argue there because it is the best feature. Second best feature is the flutter mode. Detune, stylophonics aside, is sort of useful and the harmoniser is a poor joke.
Documentation is poor, but the colour is quite pleasant. Jeez, if the colour rates higher then the harmonist function, what does that say.

Alas, mine was faulty on arrival :-(
Manufacturing date code of March 2011, not that sitting in a warehouse would cause issues, but mine displayed all the characteristics of the faulty ones that get the bad reviews.
Power up and BUZZPOPCRACKLEBANG!. Quite an alarming set of sounds and painfully loud. This was on a 'clean power' strip, so no, not mains borne junk. It shouldn't matter anyway. I plugged a guitar in, made no difference. Turned the gain/eq/volume levels up a little and strummed a chord. Beneath the blanket of badnoize came the sound of the guitar. Followed by some bangs that made me jump. Imagine the sound of a noisy pot amplified. This was full volume Bang!Pop!Crackle!. Whatever was faulty was after the preamp stage. This sounded like a shorted/blown cap before the power stage but after any form of volume control.
Unplug the guitar, turn all controls to zero and it continued fizzing, popping and banging at a very high volume level indeed. This was a fundamental flaw somewhere on the board.
Printed the returns label. Real pity as the two other reviewers got good'uns. Youtube mic'ed up demos support their words as they do sound very good indeed if you get a good'un. I didn't. I got a fizzlecrack box, not a guitar amp.
There is a Bugera branded variant which is even cuter, I'll try one of those. I so wanted it to be a working one too.

Better than a milk/beer crate for getting your cabs off the ground. Easy enough to add a couple of tie-wraps and a length of PVC pipe if the stand attempts to go into your open back cab or combo. Doddle to operate, folds flat for transport/storage.
If you've never used a stand, be it a crate/bar stool/lie-back, give it a try. It can transform your sound, stop beaming should your combo/cab be prone ( and you'll know if it is ) and live, it really helps.
