4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant but no mains charger!!, 2 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Over the last 40 years, I have used cameras by Nikon, Canon, Leica, Contax, MPP & Rolleiflex both professionally & for my own use. As I am getting on a bit, I found it difficult to carry my Nikon D300S with 18-200 VR lens, so I was looking for something smaller but with good quality. I looked at various cameras, read many reviews and purchased this little beauty from Amazon.
A good quality feel and the results are impressive - I showed some work colleagues two photographs, taken one after the other of the same location, one taken with the Nikon & the other with this camera. Two could not tell the difference, one thought the Nikon photograph was better but five said the one produced by this camera was the best.

The focal length of the lens is amazing, going up to 500mm.

The only downside is Sony's miserable attitude of trying to save money by not including a mains charger - you need to charger the battery in the camera via your computer - this lost it the fifth star.

Happily, you can buy one on Amazon very reasonably - but why was it not included in the first place?

I recently purchased a Sony DSC-HX20V camera but Sony do not give you a mains charger, only one you charge via a computer.
This charger allows you to charge the battery via mains or in car via the supplied car socket connection. For the money, excellent value and well worth considering.

Sony LCSCSQ Soft Carrying Case for Sony T, W, and N Series Digital Cameras (Black)
Sony LCSCSQ Soft Carrying Case for Sony T, W, and N Series Digital Cameras (Black)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality, 2 Sept. 2012

Purchased for my Sony DSC-HX20Z and fits like a glove. Front pocket holds spare memory cards but no room for a spare battery, but at over 300 shots per charge I don't need a spare.
Good price, well made and recommended.

Nikon MB-D10 Battery Pack for D300 & D700
Nikon MB-D10 Battery Pack for D300 & D700
Offered by Camera Centre UK
Price: £229.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Buy an original, 9 April 2012
Bought this for my D300s to use with the AA batteries for 8 FPS to take motorsport photos, sadly I no longer head for the forests to take shots of rally cars therefore I rarely used it but it balances the camera nicely with 18-200VR attached and feels right. It is superbly made but expensive and before purchasing I looked at the third party grips but thankfully I decided to go for the 'real' grip and not the cheaper plastic rubbish. The quality and feel is like night and day.
The fact that one battery is in the camera body and one in the grip did not bother me in the least - it only took 5 minutes to change over the batteries but they last for ages anyway.
A word of warning - there are numerous counterfeit grips being sold in Nikon copy boxes (check Nikon UK for details on how to spot them)(they are normally sold cheaply - anything from £55 to £150 on Ebay and they are plastic construction).
Would I recommend the grip - YES without a doubt but make sure it is genuine.
I have just sold my D300s to fund a D800 so I may consider the grip for it.

Rail Legends Lner 4-6-2 Flying Scotsman (Corgi Rail Legends)

4.0 out of 5 stars Flying Scotsman, 14 Nov. 2011

A really nice model of the preserved locomotive but Corgi jumped the gun as it has not appeared in this guise after its rebuild. Its now in bits and discussions ongoing as to the double chimney and smoke deflectors being fitted.
Still, a nice model in its plastic display case.

Garmin Carrying Case (nuvi 3700 Series Slip Style)
Garmin Carrying Case (nuvi 3700 Series Slip Style)
Price: £13.45

3.0 out of 5 stars Expensive case, 14 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The correct leather case for the Garmin 3790 is of excellent quality but the question must be asked as to why it is not included with one of Garmin's most expensive units.
It is very expensive for what it is and other non original cases are available at a fraction of the cost.
Only three stars due to its cost and it should be included with the unit.
