1.0 out of 5 stars Misses the Mark, 1 May 2014

Contains a truly terrible introduction by Sardello who comes across as a rambling, proselytiser of Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophy. It's enough to put you off the Steiner lectures which follow. They are themselves not easy to access even if you are familiar with the language, approach and concepts of anthroposophy. It all seems a bit dated and in need of contextualisation, something which the introduction aims to do but easily misses the mark.

For those wanting to work with and out of anthroposophy this book is nigh well indispensable. Kuhlewind guides you through the terrain of what it means to study and cognitively take up Rudolf Steiner's Spiritual Science. In so doing, he clarifies the study and application of the anthroposophical path and it's potential pitfalls. An appendix of selected Steiner's quotes compliments the text.

I love this book. It's so clear and well written. Kuhlewind is a fantastic secondary source for people wishing to access the ideas of Rudolf Steiner and his anthroposophy. The author offers his own research in consciousness studies and builds on Steiner's work in this area. Both informative, practical, and to my mind, contemporary.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Silent Meanderings, 1 May 2014

I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately it just grated. Sardello takes an awful lot of ink and page to expand and elaborate on the theme and practice of Silence. Put simply, he waffles on and on. There are some good points and some good writing, but it all just gets drowned out in his meandering drones. Sardello also makes disparaging remarks about practices from other spiritual traditions which just seem both unnecessary and ill informed.
