I'd decided to tackle the mess of wires and cables that had taken over behind my TV stand, and so was looking for a new multi-socket extension lead that might also offer some sort of power saving benefit.

The Savasocket is well built and performs well. "Programming" it is quick and easy, and you can decide which button on which remote you pair up with it. The manual advises you to program the Savasocket to work with the on/off button on your TV remote, and it works great in practice. When I turn off my TV with the remote all of my various devices turn off too including my Freesat HD box, Blu Ray player and AV receiver.

There are two "always on" sockets that are useful if you have a Sky HD+ box, lamp in the corner of the room, or anything else that needs to be kept plugged in and turned on. An important thing to consider is you are lot limited by the free sockets available on the Savasocket as you can plug in your old extension leads and anything plugged into them will power on/off as if plugged directly into the Savasocket.

Be aware that many devices, when power is applied by the Savasocket, will go straight into their own standby modes.

This means you have to press the remote *again* to get the device out of its standby mode and that will trigger the Savasocket to shut everything off again!

Some devices have settings to fix this.
LG TVs have a setting in the hidden Hotel Mode (see [...]) to go directly to full operating mode when powered on. Sadly my amp has no such setting - I still need to turn it on with its own remote.

Alternatively, use some other button on the remote for the Savasocket. Then power the TV on as normal with the standby/power button.

Just the job but takes some setting up. Will save some energy but could be cheaper to make it more worthwhile.

The initial set up where you train your socket to respond to your TV remote control is extremely easy.

Instructions are clear and the process should take less than a minute.
The actual socket is, unlike some of its competitors, wide enough to accommodate bulky plugs without obstructing the adjacent socket so you can actually fit 6 plugs in without trouble.

Unfortunately my first socket was faulty. Frustrated I e-mailed the Sava socket support team. They could not have been more helpful. I found out about the problem at 20.00 e-mailed them at 21.30 on a Friday night and had a response with 20 minutes!!! After explaining the fault they posted a replacement socket by first class the next day which arrived on Monday. This product was sound and has been working perfectly ever-since.

I can therefore not recommend it enough as both product and aftercare is great. For extra piece of mind the socket also carries a one year warranty!!

This Savasocket is a godsend for anyone who wants to save electricity and money. It is quite easy to set up and once you have all you have to do is press one button and all your appliances (e.g. tv, video, dvd player) are switched off and not left on standby. You also have the option to plug a dvd recorder or video recorder into separate sockets so that if you want to record something automatically, it will not switch off when you press the turn off button. Very clever idea.

Ideal bit of equipment for those who are safety conscious and also wish to save on electric bills. This device will let you control the power to your TV, DVD player,Hi Fi, etc all at the press of one button. This button is chosen by yourself and can be any button on any of your remote control. So at night when your off to bed a press of this button will isolate all your devices. Clever and well worth it.

I have all the entertainment stuff connected. When everything is on hitting standby on the sky remote puts the Sky box in standby mode and everything switches off completely, everything switches on when I hit the standby button again and Sky box comes out of standby mode. Was easy to set up.

Can't say I noticed a massive difference in the electricity bill but every little helps I guess and makes switching off easy.

I have these in every room with a telly, most of which were left on all night because the kids couldn't be bothered to get up and switch everything off! Now they just press the standby button on the remote and everything switches off, including sky/virgin boxes, xbox, playsation, dvd etc. not just on standby but completely off, saving us a fortune in electricity!
