This thread is simple, the best games that were forgotten very quickly.
Remember, not everybody will agree with you!

First off for me, Stunt Race FX for the SNES. Best racer of its time, it was challenging and it had achievements to unlock, a rarity for games then.

Keep them coming...

Silent Hill Shattered Memories: Best storytelling I've ever seen in a game, Bioshock gets all the plaudits for its twist, Shattered Memories does it twice and hits you with the credits instead of limping on for an hour or so.

Been fairly new to the old videogaming stuff I only have a decent knowlege of this gen, so I would have to say Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Blumming brilliant game which I think sold terribly. You can get it for sub £10 most places now and would encourage anyone who hasnt tried it to give it a go

I loved Shadows of the damned, weird story but fun to play and hardly anyone I know has played it

Binary Domain
Section 8 (PS3 download only)
Section 8 Prejudice (PS3 download only)
Zone Of The Enders HD.

With ZoE HD, the slowdown and action to cut-scene interchange is hardly noticed from what i've played. Criticism that taints the games when really they are just as good as I remember them. Techinally impressive and rewards consistent play. Overlooked and underrated.

Solar Fox says:
That is true Bozz, it's more that the game is overlooked than having a bad word said about it, compared to say, other 'safer' games.

Edit: BD has some of the most watchable cut-scenes i've seen this gen. Great screenplay.

I played shadow of the damned crixus, thought it was a brilliant little game that fell under the radar. Also I'd give another shout to enslaved, excellent game.

I've been gaming since the days of the atari 2600 but just cannot think of any games older than this gen that would be classified as under rated classics. Most of the old console games I played from the master system up to the ps1/saturn era were all pretty highly rated games from memory. Didn't have the money back then to take a punt on a game so tended to go with what was considered the cream of the crop.

When I owned my amstrad I bought tons of games because they were cheap, most of them £1.99 or £2.99 so I could afford to buy on a whim and played games like joe blade, into the eagles nest, lords of chaos and many others that were never big hits but great games. Same thing with my amiga, the floppy disks were cheap so bought loads of games.

The only reason I didn't try Shadow of the damned is I read it was from that nut case or group of nutcases (delete as appropriate) Suda 51. He, they make Hideo Kojima look sane, I tried Killer 7 and it was just too bizarre for me personally.

A Portal Gun says:
I think the original Section 8 was a tad underrated. It scored middle ground scores of around 7 but that of course means a 1 in the eyes of most gamers and it was left to rot.

I played it against bots and still think it would've been a blast online with friends and plenty of randoms, but alas no.

Crixus says:
Shadows of the damned isnt really bizarre, it has some funny, stereotypical, macho, b-movie style dialogue and some great boss battles. Also quite an easy 1000G, I would definetely recommend Bauer as it's prob dirt cheap now and really is a great game

Valkyria Chronicles...has a cult following but should be considered one of the best of this generation...quality through and through and bought it for buttons

Viva Pinata

Have you actually played Viva Pinata Mozza?!

Posted on 12 Jan 2013, 11:38:35 GMT
Yes. And it's underrated.

A Portal Gun says:
Ah yes, Piva Vinata.

Crixus says:
Care to tell us why it's underrated?

Posted on 12 Jan 2013, 11:55:06 GMT
It has not been sufficiently 'rated'.
