Do you mean official soundtracks or scores ?
It's hard to choose between Star Wars, Transformers, Twilight, Braveheart & Gladiator.

I can only choose one? I can think of a loads.

Ok, try this: Conan the Barbarian

Or Gladiator...
or Lawrence of Arabia...
or Star Wars...
or Highlander (not that we ever got a proper album)...
or Apollo 13 (not that we ever got a proper album for that either)...
or The Rock...
...
damn, can't make me mind up.

Luck Number Slevin (Barns & Noble only!)
Blade Runner, Schindler's List, The 1st 2 Bourne scores.
I'd also agree with Conan!
Be interesting to hear Solomom Kane, as & when.
How about Plunket & Mcklean.
Koyaanisqasi
And if you can get hold of it Wojciecha Kilara Pan Tadeusz as well as his Dracula score!

'Gladiator' just rehashes bit of Wagner and Vaughan Williams.

For 'best use of existing classical music' I'd go for 'Excalibur'. But my own favourites, the ones I'd listen to for their own sake, are 'Flash Gordon', 'Long Riders' and of course 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'.

Definitely Gladiator. Barbarian Horde makes you want to go and invade something.

I also like the soundtrack to Queen of the Damned. Rubbish movie - good music.

Agree with you on the "Gladiator" examples, which also lifts parts of Holst's The Planets as well.Another few soundtracks I would recommend would be Bladerunner,West Side Story and 2001 A Space Odyssey
