I'm putting together a compilation of orchestral film music, but would like to have it interspersed with pop or rock music with military drums.

I would appreciate it if anyone could list the ones that they know of.

Thanks a lot.

Mike.

Regimental pipes and drums feature on 'Anthem' by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (from 'The Impossible Dream' LP).

Tennessee Flat Top Box by Roseanne Cash (her dad may have done it too) may fit the bill.
There's some military drumming on a Doors track - "Unknown Soldier"?

i think this will be too extreme but there is a Metal band called Summoning who specifically use programmed drums to achieve a martial feel. Not easy listening by any means though but pretty original sounding

Don't think it's really your thing but Destiny's Child Lose My Breath has a military intro - kinda reminds me of the A-Team theme tune - just a thought

You could always try the track 'Private Sorrow' from the Pretty Things album S F Sorrow.

errr...I thought I was losing my mind there, as I have already answered, but I see you have an identical discussion on the pop forum.

You must really like those drums dude.

PS What about The Trooper and Where Eagles Dare by Iron Maiden. No military drums, but they fit the theme.

Look for Mirdautas Vras by Summoning on YouTube. Somebody has made a Lord Of The Rings montage video to accompany the song. The album, Oath Bound is excellent too.

Miles Davis "Saeta" from Sketches of Spain may be of interest. Military style drums and bugle-like trumpet in parts.

Don't forget 'Two Little Boys' by Rolf Harris (the military drum bit's near the end, I think).

A military beat is usually in 2/4 time so I guess that means that all techno music has a military beat.

" War" by U2, should give you a few tracks. ( Or is that more of a Boy's Brigade sound?). Check out " The Crossing" by Big Country also.

'Soldiers' is a song by ABBA on their 'The Visitors' album. Military style drums done as a waltz - got to be one of the standout tracks on that album.
