Anyone else into this genre??

Been listening to a great Canadian band, called Blood Ceremony - lady singer, flute, mellotron, trippy guitar solos but hard riffs too and lyrics straight outta the wicker man.

Check out The Great God Pan on You Tube for a taster...

Hi Adam checked it out, not bad bit like Black Sabbath fronted by Danielle Dax. I've recently got into Chelsea Wolfe, this is from her doom metal album 'Apokalypsis', it's called 'Demons'.

I quite like them AJ. New to me but I've just listened to some of their clips. Reminds me of a heavy Curved Air. I'll be checking out more of their music and I can already feel a purchase looming. Payday on Friday!!

On a lighter note, check out Purson as well, there's also the Devil's Blood too
Ill have a look at Demons, and if any good I'll rip it off YouTube :-)

This is the one I'm going for. The Eldritch Dark Described as folk prog in one review. Not too much folk though, which suits my ears perfectly.

Blood Moon Rise
Jex Thoth
both by Jex Thoth
Cauldron Of The Wild by Witch Mountain

But all the bands mentioned fall into the stoner/doom genre really.

Just got round to listening to your recs FDJ. I like Blood Moon Rise, new to me. I like some of the riffs on Cauldron Of The Wild but the female vocalist's voice is not to my taste. I need to give that one more time I think.

Glad you liked Jex Thoth Red and I can understand your comment on Witch Mountain, as I said they are more from a doom metal background. Maybe some of these might fit the bill.....
Jess And The Ancient Ones by Jess and The Ancient Ones.
Mind Control by Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats
Gather The Sinners by Devil

Hi Adam.....I can't believe no one has mentioned San Franciscan band Orchid, who are one of the best exponents of this genre. Their music is straight from the Black Sabbath rule book with every song having a direct link to a Sabbath song, yet their music is all very original. Few other suggestions from my side; Kadavar, Witchcraft, Astra, Blue Pills, Grand Magus, Iron Man, Earthless,Memory Garden, The Sword, The Vintage Caravan, Mustach and Red Fang.

Happy Days.

Bluesy, heavy, great voice: Angel's Necropolis - Year Of The Goat
Great rock: The Thousandfold Epicentre - The Devil's Blood
Classic Doom: Nature Is The Devil's Church - Black Magician
Stoner (not wholely evil): God Is Good - Om
Southern heaviness: Lightning At The Door - All Them Witches
