Well I see there has been a thread opened how to become a Christian?
Well to become an Atheist you use your common sense, and realise that the books of the bible are false, and were written by people knowing nothing of the events that had happened, for instance who was there when god supposedly created earth? nobody you have got that bit right, so how can they write about such an event. Adam and eve who really were they? the supposed female made from the mans rib, well spin will know about that part. Eating the forbidden fruit from the tree also, so god got everything in the world ready before man and woman all in 6 days, my that was quick going for anybody was it not?
Just look at those and you should be an Atheist immediately.

Well stu look at it this way. If you expect the world to make sense then you will be an atheist. If you think the world runs by magic then you will be a theist.

Sadly it seems that a lot of people think the world runs by magic which is probably why we are in such a mess.

Just a try against the thread "how do I become a Christian" Nestov.

Personally I thought that was a rather simple question....

Put your credulity on hold.... there done! I am now a Christian.... Wow talking snakes... a man with XX chromosomes... this is fascinating. What next... water into wine?

Don't forgot to keep repeating to yourself "I do believe in god, I do believe in god, I do I do I do believe in god" because every time a child say "I don't believe in god" a fairy dies.

"I would suggest the first essential is the capacity to deny the evidence of your own eyes."

If there was a god then they wouldn't hide away. There is no reason to, so the fact that we can't see god suggests you are bong wrong.

Good one Bladders, now how many talking snakes have you seen? How many virgin births? How many magic apples have you seen? With your own eyes of course, as per your risible claim.

Take your time...

I'm surprised that Poopsey isn't saying "I don't believe in god" as a mantra then...

[EDIT] I do apologise for what is a simply awful joke. My only excuse is that Poopsey's homophobia is no joke.

Nestov, not sure I agree with this. If you listen/read anything by John Lennox you will realise that theists think the world makes sense because there is a God. It is the atheist who seems to think that world makes sense by random chance (see multiverse theory).

Get Bradders some cream. He just got burned.

What percentage of the worlds population thought the world was flat at any given time? You see it's not flat, and this tends to indicate that citing numbers alone without tangible evidence is fallacious logic, it's called Argumentum ad populum, but then you knew this as we've done this many times before, so your claim is all the more puzzling?

C. W. Bradbury says: How do I become an Atheist ? I would suggest the first essential is the capacity to deny the evidence of your own eyes. In the teeth of modern genetic research, the would-be Atheist should/must be able to convince himself that Life's Genetic Code (IE: the most complex functioning sequence of information ever known to humanity) fell together in some unknown but random manner.

Do we need to get the six sided dice out again to show that it's a mathematical certainty that immensely complex patterns emerge from random events given enough time and repetition?

Go on roll over for us, you can do it, I know you can.

That's fine WDB... if you believe in magic and think that is what makes sense in the world then fine. How else can one describe an invisible friend who does miracles and cannot be seen or heard or detected in any material way?

Magic is never an explanation for making sense out of the world.
Your lack of understanding of stochastic theory and statistical modelling leads you to error but, again you can always cry 'magic'. Try not to confuse statistical processes with uncontrolled events.

How to become an atheist:

(1) Believe what learned geeks in white coats (scientists) say.
(2) Close your mind to everything that can't be proved or shown to have evidence.
(3) Ignore the wonder of not knowing.
(4) Be a bore.

No simon that's theists.

The problem with this is that the opposite makes you seem well... see for yourself

To become a theist
#1. deny facts and evidence
#2. Accept any fantasy that anyone cares to offer you... better yet if it flies in the face any degree of common sense.
#3. Praise total ignorance
#4. Impress your neighbours with your illogical fanaticism

In reply to an earlier post on 25 Mar 2014, 19:18:57 GMT
I like (2) that actually made me laugh out loud, I suppose this is the best we can hope for from simple Simon.
