Do you ever read what you cut 'n' paste Paul?

"You are at serious risk of getting HIV in the near future and need to take steps to prevent that happening - such as consistent condom use and reduction in number of sexual partners."

Condoms and fidelity, not discredited "Gay Cures".

NS thinks .. honest to God.. .he still thinks that the message about 'safe sex' hasn't been out for some 30 or 40 years and that we are not seeing exactly how effective its been.

Go back to sleep. Sorry to have disturbed you.

You posted this recommendation Paul. Why do so if you disagree with it?

Spin says:
Tom: I have never claimed that AIDS/HIV is in any way to be belittled. Please do not misrepresent me. AIDs is primarily an STD (although it can be spread through other non-sexual means, usually means by which blood or saliva is shared or picked up) . And there are many types of STD, some more serious than others. So instead of attacking me and accusing me of being "dogmatic", which I most definately am not, using the ad hominem arguments you claim to despise, please answer the questions and arguments I have put to you.

The fact I am dealing with is; your solution to the problem of AIDS/HIV is to post on a forum thread with 26 participants.

I repeat, how many lives do you think this action will save?

"I do indeed describe homosexual behavior as one of the most obvious of possible disorders".

Describe it how you want, but you've given no evidence that homosexuality is a "disorder". In point of true and actual fact, it hasn't been officially considered so for a long time, my fried and confused little friend.

Is democracy the will of the majority or minority?

Posted on 18 Dec 2012, 18:44:14 GMT
Atheism: doing good without promise of heavenly rewards.

Theism: the exact opposite; with the added bonus that people you don't like suffer for eternity.

Not exactly a sound basis for anything, really, is it?

In reply to an earlier post on 18 Dec 2012, 18:54:03 GMT
I love these wide sweeping generalisations. Does this mean every atheist does good and every theist does bad?

In reply to an earlier post on 18 Dec 2012, 19:03:32 GMT
Do you think that no minority should have rights unless the majority thinks they should?

It means what it says, bishop.

Trifle obvious, yes?

Ms Brown,

Unlike religion, the Law applies to everyone.

I understand a lot of Catholic Priests thought they were somehow above the Law.

Didn't end well, as I recall. Once 'god wills it' enters the fray, theists can justify anything.

Ms. A. Brown says:
Atheism: Doing bad if you can get away with it. No accountability to a higher power.

Theism: Staying away from bad as you are accountable to a higher power. Own personal police force in their head reducing the cost of crime, reducing the cost on the NHS if you live in the UK and reducing the number of broken homes due to adultery.

Theism is the denial of accountability, of fobbing off the job of morality on 'gods', 'angels', and other make-believe nonsense; of telling yourself you above the law because 'god says so, so there'.

It is the greatest act of moral idleness and vanity conceivable.

Ms Brown-

'Theism: Staying away from bad as you are accountable to a higher power. Own personal police force in their head reducing the cost of crime, reducing the cost on the NHS if you live in the UK and reducing the number of broken homes due to adultery.'

If you believe that, you are seriously delusional.

Theism the denial of accountability?! Umm, are you trying to get brownie points here cuz you are really grasping at straws with that one.

Curious thing to whine about, given that I supported my assertion, while you didn't bother.

And, while we're on the topic, would you mind telling us how many atheists became suicide bombers in the hopes of spending eternity frolicking with virgins?

I don't think you can, somehow.

K. Hoyles says:
'People with no accountability do whatever they like; some stooping as low as to have sex with animals or drink and drive killing someone in the process and the list goes on.'

Oh please, try to be ever so slightly realistic. There is much insanity within the world of belief, and well you know it. From paedophile priests to sadistic nuns, a kaleidoscope of religions each believing they have a monopoly on goodness and piety. Believers and non believers alike are guilty of crimes against humanity. I would also like to point out if I may, as an atheist, I don't do whatever I like (not all the time), and I have not had sex with animals.

In reply to an earlier post on 18 Dec 2012, 21:09:45 GMT
Ms. A. Brown,

Do you actually believe this?

Atheism is a lack of belief in deities. That's it. Atheism doesn't include a system of morals. and that does not mean that atheists lack morals, it's just that their morals are part of another world view, such as Humanism.
Atheism isn't "Doing bad if you can get away with it" and I can't think of any atheists who would subscribe to this viewpoint.

Theism is only a belief in a deity or deities; nothing more. Specific belief systems, such as Christianity, each have their different moral codes. Not all of those moral codes are in fact good morals and can lead some to do immoral acts. There is no "Stay away from bad" inherent in theism.
How does theism reduce the cost of crime and reduce the cost on the NHS?
Can you supply the evidence that theism reduces the number of broken homes due to adultery?
