Oohh I had this very dilema a few weeks ago! I have since got both games but have played more COD 5 than 4.

Personally I say go for COD5. I accept that COD4 is a trailblazer and therefore more worthy of praise than COD5 - however in my view the online play is identical - the campaign in COD5 is short and sweet - great fun and you get Nazi Zombies which is a truly great game bonus - even if it was a piece of paid for DLC would be worth it - but its yours for just playing the game!

COD 4 without a doubt ... sorry Robson I see why you went with COD5 what with Zombies and the game play is similar to COD 4.

But I would always go with COD4, the maps have near perfect design, the gameplay is very balanced, loads of game modes - and the SP campaign on COD4 is better than that of COD4, 5 is good, but 4 is spectacular

yeah i was quite bored of the whole ww2 thing so cod 5 was cemented in my mind as (rubbish) from the start. Once i played it however the maps are much larger and well though of its just a shame its the dark and dingy ww2 theatre and the guns are dated. Once you played withthe guns of cod 4 its quite a pain to go backwards grr. Does anyone think that the maps on 4 are lighter in general , i think you can see much clearer on it

COD4, in my opinion it's not a hard decision. world at war's online isn't as good. I enjoyed the SP for both. Nazi zombies was an AWESOME edition granted, but to be honest now it takes an hour to get near my personal best it kind of got old after a couple of weeks. I sold my copy of world at war and still play kz2 and cod4 all the time.
