unsigned artists are better off independent true or false?

Most bands that have been around for a while remain unsigned for the simple reason they are not much cop. Exceptions exist , but not that many.

If unsigned artists are good enough they don't remain unsigned for long. In the meantime I would advice anyone to get out there, play in front of real people, experience the applause and the abuse and have some fun. If nothing else, when you're eventually stuck behind a desk doing the mundane you'll have great memories. 99.9% of budding rock n' rollers won't make it. That doesn't mean they should have some fun along the road to failure.
