MC Zaptone says:
The good news is that the BBC's predictor seems to have survived the cutbacks and so we can enjoy another season of fun.

The Weekly Punt is an entertaining interactive football prediction game that's open to everyone. It doesn't matter if are you a budding football pundit or just like a simple bit of pot-luck fun.
Either google: bbc football premier league predictor
Or go to:

I would then bookmark it so you can access it easily, week on week.

Simply fill in the scores of the games (that are posted here every week)
and then press the 'Update Table' button. The Premier league table will magically adjust and will now show all the teams positions based on your predictions.
We then post (back here) the TOP SIX and the BOTTOM THREE teams - their league position and their goal difference (GD) we are not interested in how many league points they have.

**NOTE: If a team does not feature on the BBC predictor in one of the nine (9) league positions that we are punting on (1st to 6th then 18;19 & 20th) NO points will be awarded.

ONE point awarded for every correct team position and TWO points for correctly guessing their Goal Difference.

That's it. Simple and fun. We then add everybody's weekly scores and I post the results here in the form of a league table.
**HOLIDAY PUNTS: I try to get all 20 teams games in every week, Sky have reintroduced Monday night footy and occasionally we get a Tuesday game but in general we try to avoid midweek games. We don't punt on the International and F.A. Cup weekends. So if you are going on holiday please feel free to punt ahead with the date of each individual punt (don't forget to 'update table' between each week) As you won't know the exact games we are punting on while you are away you might miss out on a game or two but at least you will get some points.

**ABSENTEE PUNTS due to illness/caring for others. We will implement the Lez's Punt system
Ie. Whoever is absent, their next weekly punt will be a duplicate copy of this weeks winner's next punt (plus 1 point for good measure).

**POSTPONED OR CANCELLED MATCHES** If a match that appears on the BBC predictor is cancelled for any reason punters will receive 2 points 'in lieu' of points lost for that particular game. 2 postponed games will accrue 4 points and so on.

Cheers and good luck

After last year?? When I finished bottom and even people who had forgotten to punt were scoring higher than me?? NO WAY!!

OK, I will then...I'd quite like to propose a new 'no points' rule for those who forget to punt though (obviously illness and holidays excepted).

Seven in so far, I'm hoping Anita, Blastro, Val, Grey, Deano & Sera will join in plus a couple of new punters
I wonder if Rab or smitty are interested?
Can we do some advertising, please!

RedAlFire says:
Maybe interested MCW although now it is hot and the beach is getting most of my time I may have enough on my plate already. I have looked on the BBC page and done a 'dummy run' - after the update it seems it is not possible to cut and paste the table positions. So do all 9 teams and positions and goal difference need to be typed in every time?

David E says:
Yes they do - well that's the way that I do it anyway. If anyone knows a quicker way then please let me know.

MC Zaptone says:
David's right RedAl.......jot it down and type it in, takes no longer than your average post. Remember it runs right through winter when you will need to replace all that surf!

Come on in the waters lovely.
Let us know ASAP.

Greysuit says:
MC - after last year I thought it would be a struggle to maintain my intetrest through an entire season in a sport that I only really have a passing interest in so I have (not) had to think about this year long and hard and I must apologise to everyone in advance but Greysuit's in it to win it this year.

Well done MC and thanks in anticipation for what I know is going to be a busy time for you - and I'll mention it on the Deadheads Utd thread to see if I can conjur up a few new players.

Greysuit says:
For newcomers welcome aboard - this is how it's done.

For everyone else (and the newcomers) - follow my tracer.

1. - Man City + 4
2. - Chelsea + 3
3. - Man Utd + 3
4. - Wigan + 2
5. - Spurs + 2
6. - Arsenal + 1

18. - Stoke - 3
19. - West Brom - 3
20. - Swansea - 4

Sorry if this is a bit of a shock MC - what with me normally being an eleventh hour punter - but I thought I'd try and be first in this year for at least one punt.

☺ ☺ ☺
