Governments keep us Doped and Dumbed Down so that they can do their Dirty Deeds.

Tax payers of our society, --- those that keep governments alive, have become so lethargically doped up and dumbed down so that we tax payers, as the sustainers of society, no longer seeks a reasonable equity for all of our members.

We here in the middle of our perspective demographic commons, all see ourselves being fleeced by the rich, who escape tax, --- as we tax paying people with heart, --- help the poor to the level we can, --- in spite of the profit making above by the rich where it is not required, --- and that we taxpayers continue to happily, in our dumbed down condition continue to feed the rich. Insanity.

Why are we as taxpayers shooting ourselves in the foot by paying for such poor governance?

Agreed Muhammad...we need a powerful and masterful government ....a government of the people with a true elite at the helm.

This option would be a better option.

What constitutes 'a true elite' then Old Sport? And I am asking a serious question. Would you say an elite of intellectuals, or an elite of entrepreneurs, or an elite of people who have experience of real life, or what? What we tend to have in this country is an elite of people often who don't have any real talent or real accomplishments but are there because they are semi-aristocratic (Boris Johnson) or have connections and wealth and private education of some kind (George Osborne, David Cameron, Nick Clegg et al) or just rather Middle class types (Ed Miliband, Harriet Harman, Paddy Ashdown et al). There are few people in any kind of power who have experience of real life outside of 'Planet Politics' or outside of the Middle and Upper stratas of society, and nobody even from ordinary backgrounds rarely if ever get genuinely listened to anymore, if they ever did. So, I'm interested in seeing your answer.

(just for the record, when I say 'ordinary' I meant W/class and not to infer that either M/class or U/class can't be ordinary! I got told off for this rightly and don't wish to offend!) ;~)

TSC...look at your words...."would you say an elite of intellectuals, OR an elite of entrepreneurs, OR an elite of people who have experience of real life, OR what?...the elite would be those who understood and had implanted in their neurology the basics on non-Aristotlean thinking...we must move beyond thinking that is old, outdated and useless...beyond useless...harmful.

Oh of course, how silly of me not to get that! Perhaps my thinking is outdated etc, but I suggest they are questions many people ask when asked just what sort of society we want; perhaps they might say: a fairer one?

Simon,

Would I be far off the mark to suggest that the "true elite" you are thinking of would consist largely of people like yourself?

Tom C...no....no.....they would be on a much higher level.

TSC....the fount appreciates your assistance....again we see the problem....

A fairer society....fair....a human construct....go out into the fields, into nature...find some fairness and do the human 'thing'...pick some, own it!

I kind of like the fact that you don't take anything here too seriously, and have a rather good sense of humour. Yet behind it all, I sense a serious intent; which is good.

A serious intent? Maybe, but God knows what for. I certainly don't think Boydy does. Transcendental thinking - or the abolition of bus lanes, and tax breaks for health food shops?

Perhaps you're right; Reds under the bed and all that.

I have to confess, I don't always understand the little fellow, but there's a kind of warmth there; but they probably said that about Charles Manson as well! Did he say tax breaks for health food shops? Oh well.

But what real choice do we have Spinny Old Fruit? It's either Jeeves and Wooster (Clegg and Cameron), Ed 'I'm my own man' Miliband, the laughing pub bore (Farage), the various members of the Green Party, Old One-Eye (Nick Griffin) and possibly a left-over assortment of oddballs, ne'r-do-wells, closet racists and chancers of all kinds. What choice, what real choice do we have?
