Channel 4s "Psychonight" threw an excellent spotlight onto our greatest, unadressed problem...the non violent psychopaths who are drawn to banking, law and other professions where power and control are a major factor.

The GOMS hopes that this program may initiate intelligent debate, however on here that is unlikely!

...drawn into politics too.

What does The Gomsy suggest 'we' do with them?

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Dec 2013, 18:23:36 GMT
...ah...yes....that is 'the' question. Good.

It's rather difficult because the term psychopath has a rather imprecise meaning.

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Dec 2013, 18:35:17 GMT
.....no....it is a word that has now been clearly defined by experts. Please watch the program so that you can update your understanding.

It means a mentally deranged person, but that could be anything.

Shrek says:
Nay nay thrice nay, <<mentally deranged>> is the last thing psychopaths are. Psychopaths are only deranged in popular folk myth.

Do a search for: Dr Robert Hare, he's yer psycho man and will put you right.

Agreed....a learned man....wise is he...like my friend kooooooooookydooooookydooooooo....

Oh, right. So psychopath is a good thing is it? Should we all try to be one?

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Dec 2013, 19:51:13 GMT
I think that's what I said. And I have already researched it.

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Dec 2013, 19:59:35 GMT
Shrek says:
Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr how did you arrive at this conclusion?

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Dec 2013, 20:02:23 GMT
You arrived at it. You said psychopaths are only deranged in popular folk myth. Perhaps you are talking about the fact that they might not always be violent?

Posted on 16 Dec 2013, 20:03:00 GMT
Also, can you give examples of popular folk myth concerning psychopaths?

Posted on 16 Dec 2013, 20:03:52 GMT
Dracula? But he wasn't a banker, lawyer or similar professional.

Shrek says:
<<should we all try to be one?>> ,try all you will, it doesn't work.

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Dec 2013, 20:11:49 GMT
I think it is a popular myth that all psychopaths are brilliantly clever.

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Dec 2013, 20:16:42 GMT
Shrek says:
No need, you gave an excellent example yourself: <<it means a mentally deranged person>>.

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Dec 2013, 20:16:56 GMT
Shrek says:
No.

Shrek says:
Is it? Well you know what thought did...

Shrek says:
Here's one many people do frequently, the OP does, I do, calling psychopaths, PSYCHOs.
