I found out the answer to this on Dragons' Den last night: they sustain a market for ridiculous, super-expensive gizmos like a bath that will run itself.

But how can you make sure it's the right temperature when it's finished?

Good post.

Spin says:
The rich consider everyone, even their own families, as a means to financial profit. As I said previously, "Dragons Den" is a "Freak show" for the rich; Amuse us; beg for money in public...

Oh yes you're correct, he does, along with Warren Buffet and others he's set up a charitable foundation with billions of their money to help raise health, education and income in the poorest countries.

Great. ....that is brilliant. However there are other people who use their wealth differently.

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 14:24:58 GMT
Let's hear it.

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 14:49:48 GMT
Okay. Mr Abramovitch uses his billions made from Russian wealth to 'play' at owning a football club. Great!

Mike Tyson wasted over four hundred million dollars on gold taps and planes.

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 14:52:03 GMT
Tommy Boyd wasted thousands on champagne and cocaine.

<<enhancing>> the lives of thousands of football fans. Great!

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 14:58:51 GMT
Wasted...a matter of opinion.

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 15:00:40 GMT
All on taps and planes?

The people who made him the taps benefited.

He was never rich. Timothy Sad Man, wrote his own Wiki entry...but he's had nothing new to put in for years.

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 15:45:27 GMT
Actually Timothy didn't write it, which is why it contains so many errors. Oh, and Timothy earned many thousands in the mid-eighties.

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 16:28:09 GMT
Then perhaps he should correct it or remove it.

We all earned many thousands...that's not mega rich.

you guys need some lessons in basic economics - if a rich guy 'wastes' millions on gold taps and aeroplanes it ultimately benefits a vast number of people from gold miners to airports

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 17:23:51 GMT
Oh yus....the black man down the mine says "thanks Mike"...and planet earth says "cheers Mikey boy" as his plane spews out filth into the clear blue sky!

"Oh yus....the black man down the mine says "thanks Mike"..."

I think he would say something different to that if he were to loose his job as a result of lack of demand for gold.

"planet earth says "cheers Mikey boy" as his plane spews out filth into the clear blue sky!"

So let's stop air travel and see what effect that has on global prosperity.

I was arguing with this guy the other day who was suggesting that it would be a good idea to ban the production of all plastic..........think he could benefit from a brain transplant.

OH yus!....ALL IS FINE...

Oh yus, wise words from the Gomsy, your shop's doing well, no flooding on your park, wind turbines sprouting and did you know the world's poor are getting richer, soon they will all have parkhomes, IQs, pet dogs, 40" plasma tellys, SKY TV, laptops, Kindles, military style chronograph watches & camouflage fatigue pants (for pretending to be Irish Navvy Seals) and their own businesses just like you.
