By the way. I know some of you have emailed me but at the moment I am computerless as my new laptop packed up!
I can receive but not send as BT let me pick them up on my phone but their security prevents me sending. A real pain in the butt at the mo'

Anyway see you all there in a couple of weeks. Anything important, please text me.

No Wharfy, it was working like a dream then one day no software loaded at all - appeared as dead as a dodo. I've returned it to Zon and they have acknowledged receipt. Just want a refund before purchasing another!

Did you try to run the OS system in safe mode (F4) and run
the diagnostics before sending the puter back by any chance?

In reply to an earlier post on 9 Sep 2013 14:43:00 BDT
No, but it did not even get as far as the log in screen for a password it simply switched on and remained totally blank!
Tried several times to no avail!

Greysuit says:
The pubs with the shortest and longest names in Britain are both in Stalybridge: 'Q' and 'The Old Thirteenth Cheshire Astley Volunteer Rifleman Corps Inn'.

The Cheshire Regiment was an infantry regiment of the British Army, part of the Prince of Wales' Division. The regiment was created in 1881 as part of the Childers reforms by the linking of the 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment of Foot and the militia and rifle volunteers of Cheshire. The title 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment continued to be used within the regiment until 1 September 2007 when The Cheshire Regiment was merged with other regiments to form part of the Mercian Regiment, becoming 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Cheshire).

The Special Air Service (SAS) traces its origins to 1941 and the Second World War, and was reformed as part of the Territorial Army in 1947, and named the 21st Battalion, SAS Regiment, (Artists Rifles). The Regular Army 22 SAS later gained fame and recognition worldwide after successfully assaulting the Iranian Embassy in London and rescuing hostages during the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege, lifting the regiment from obscurity outside the military establishment.

Who's to know what else they've been up to on our Nation's behalf ?

Needless to say - 22 has a strong Military connection.

22 also has a connection to the number of sleeps twixt now and the gathering in Fowey.

Lez - you've got the key to the door of sleeps before your arrival !!!

My computerless mate wants to come to Fowey with me. As he saw the Dead in Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1970 does he qualify?

Posted on 12 Sep 2013 11:35:35 BDT
Lez Lee says:
Well, that makes him more qualified than I am ;-)

Wharf Rat says:
I should say so Mondo, that makes two of us that has seen the Dead
....reserve that empty chair!!!!

In reply to an earlier post on 12 Sep 2013 22:29:16 BDT
Greysuit says:
Not only reserve the empty chair - but (if he's stopping over) he'll need to contact The Galleon (01726 833014 / info@galleon-inn.co.uk) to get a room.

"19" is a 1985 song by Paul Hardcastle, including sampled soundbites taken from a documentary about the Vietnam War in which 19 is claimed to have been the average age of United States soldiers killed in the conflict (an assertion which is widely disputed). The song was parodied by British satirist Rory Bremner under the pseudonym 'The Commentators,' as N-n-nineteen, Not Out, the title referring to the batting average of David Gower, the England cricket captain, during his side's risible performance against the West Indies in 1984 when they lost 5-0.

19 also happens to be the number of sleeps twixt now and 1 Oct when the gathering begins.

I've confirmed my booking with Lee at The Galleon for 3 nights Tues-Thur incl and booked Pugwash (for it is he) a room for same. We hope to arrive mid-afternoon on Tues at Par station and fervently hope a DH Cab will be available for the usual fee of a beer or two :-)

Posted on 13 Sep 2013 22:24:10 BDT
Greysuit says:
Reading your post - I take it that you've only booked a room for Pugwash as your room is already part of the 'group' booking.

As for a DH taxi - let me know when your train gets into Par and I'll see what I can do to assist if the timings are right.

I take it Pugwash is 18 so that he can partake of the full festivities.

I take it that we are all aware that there are only 18 sleeps to go to the full festivities.

As he was at a show in 1970, unless recently reincarnated, reckon he'll get a pint without some ID.

Greysuit says:
Fair point and good conection China.

"Seventeen" was the original title of the song "I Saw Her Standing There" by The Beatles.
17 - follow the blue link to discover more.

17 is also the number of sleeps to go to Fowey - except for her that's never been kissed - at sweet sixteen. (Sorry Lez - couldn't resist the bingo link).
