Hi Lez, hope you had a good time?

Thanks very much for the offer but I'm away 'up country' to Lisbon and Porto (and more perhaps) for 2 or 3 weeks in a couple of days time so I'll not be here for that either. Annoyingly I'll miss some nominated artists I'd liked to have participated in (after enduring some I'd rather not have). Sod's Law!

Thanks again. :-)

Gordon D says:
Does anyone ever listen to Desmond Carrington's Friday evening show on Radio 2? Carrington is an excessively fruity old luvvy, but some of the music he plays is interesting. As he's in his eighties, most of his music of choice is from the nineteen-forties and fifties (and occasionally thirties). Unsurprisingly, the majority of it is sugary, string-laden mulch, but there are some real gems that have been pretty much forgotten about. I switched on the car radio as I was coming out of the petrol station a couple of Fridays ago and Desmond was playing Eddie Calvert's recording of Cherry Pink & Apple-Blossom White. It was, without a doubt, the best record I heard on the radio that week.

And this record by Bing Crosby is magnificent:

I'm in for Bing please Collette. I've got two sure-fire winners to choose from (one from the 40s and one from the 50s). While checking on their Youtube availability, I also found Bing singing with The Temptations:

How soon are we allowed another shot?

Posted on 29 Oct 2013 20:00:07 GMT
i was wondering that as well, and also what constitutes a round? i'd be happy for it to continue, but honestly, it's up to the threadhosts who are putting the time in. (thanks)

RedAlFire says:
Tim, at present the last one in this round is Track 185 and we're presently on round 180. Can't see why you shouldn't show your nomination for the next round now and a track number will be assigned a little later (assuming the thread continues). May help to see how many are interested in continuing perhaps?

They were on my shortlist for the next round (admittedly along with a few others). Glad they made the list, will look forward to that one especially as they are straight after Bobby Womack.
