From Jack White's website:

"Jack White's First Attempt at Metaphor Record Proves Uncountable

At Jack White's headlining performance in Gulf Shores, Alabama last night, Guinness officials were anxiously awaiting the beginning of Mr. White's concert (the start of which is apparently very difficult to determine stated Guinness Records reps, music being played notwithstanding). They were there so that they could begin the exhausting process of counting each and every metaphor that occurred onstage as Mr. White attempted to break the record of most metaphors in a single concert.

They definitely had a task in front of them as in the first song alone, three officials that were flown in from the Guinness world headquarters in the anteroom of the Salt and Muskrat pub in Tipperary, counted no less than twelve hundred and three metaphors in three minutes.

Some metaphors were lyrical and others came from moments such as lighting changes and even the calm weather itself during the chorus which momentarily had the feel of Grandma's house in winter. By the seventh song alone the hard work led two of the Guinness officials to wander to the catering table, leaving the counting to their partner who, new to the grueling scientific process involved, accidentally counted 312 similes and three mere comparisons.

Metaphors were occurring in the thousands by this point, some coming from the clothing the musicians had on, others from the colors used on one of the microphone cables which were easter candy blue, making the task of counting extremely trivial or at the very least hard work.

Then tragedy struck and the record attempt had to be forfeited by Jack White when during the second half of the set Mr. White trivialized a metaphor by saying it too quickly. It was something about the moon being a faucet of light but was uttered too fast to be counted.

Guinness representatives will return to tomorrow night's show to begin the exhaustive, scientific, and absolutely authoritative and factual process all over again."

Which, as far as I am concerned, goes to prove that contemporary rock stars will do just about anything for publicity, regardless of how pointless. Just play music FFS!

Think you've missed the point slightly Liq. I detected a quite sizable amount of tongue-in-cheek in that news story, plus the fact he's put it on his own website rather than going to NME or anything makes me think he's just having a laugh.

Fair enough RAB. I assumed it was a publicity stunt that he'd put out to the music press. My bad.

RIP Fleetwood Mac's Bob Welch.

Bob Welch's body was found by his wife, with a gunshot wound to his chest.

A police spokesman confirmed that they're treating the Fleetwood Mac star's death as suicide.

They said: "The police are investigating it as a suicide, and there was no evidence of foul play."

They went on to reveal that Bob Welch had left a suicide note and had been suffering from 'health issues'.

More from Yahoo omg! News -

Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks said: "He was an amazing guitar player - he was funny, sweet - and he was smart - I'm so very sorry for his family and for the family of Fleetwood Mac - so, so sad."

She continued: "I had many great times with him after Lindsey and I joined Fleetwood Mac. He was an amazing guitar player."

The 66 year-old was in Fleetwood Mac from 1971-1974, working on five of their early albums.

He then went on to have great solo success, with his debut solo album going platinum.

In an interview in 2003, Bob Welch revealed that he'd been surprised by his success.

He said: "I just wanted to play guitar in a good band. I wanted to make the music I love. I wanted to travel the world and have adventures."

Wonder if they'll ever start distributing a draught version to pubs. One could have loads of fun guessing whether they would serve you a pint or throw you out, when you walk in and simply say the word 'bastards'.

Motorhead have launched their own lager, which is rather snappily named 'Bastards Lager'.

The beer is being brewed by Swedish brewery Krönleins and can be ordered by the whole case from Systembolaget, the Swedish state liquor shop. You can find more details about the lager at

The band's drummer Mikkey Dee spoke highly of the trio's latest merch-stall offering: "You're never too old for rock 'n' roll and good chilled beer. That always works well together!"

'Bastards Lager' is the band's second alcohol-based launch of the last year, after they announced in 2011 that they would selling their own brand of red wine, named 'Motorhead Shiraz'.

Could 'reality'/'talent' show fatigue finally be setting in? Or is that just wishful thinking?

'The Voice' UK tour could face cancellation after poor ticket sales An established tour promoter says that 'everyone is anticipating huge problems' with the 12-date arena run

The live tour featuring acts from BBC1's reality singing show The Voice could face cancellation, according to tabloid reports today (June 13).

The tour is due to visit 12 arenas across the UK in September and tickets are over £40 in nearly all venues, with all the major acts who took part in the series signed up to be part of the tour.

According to the Daily Mirror today (June 13), an established tour promoter said they were ''anticipating huge problems'' and compared the situation with ITV's decision to pull the planned Britain's Got Talent live tour.

Speaking off the record, the promoter said of the The Voice's tour plans: "Do they really think that they can sell 160,000 tickets at £40 a pop when they couldn't even keep people watching on the telly for free? Everyone is anticipating huge problems with this."

They continued: "Britain's Got Talent had to admit defeat and pull the plug on the live tour in 2011 because the tickets hadn't sold - and their ratings were higher and more consistent than The Voice's."

This comes in a week of bad news for the show, as its winner Leanne Mitchell saw her debut single miss the Top 40 completely over the weekend.

'Run To You', which the singer performed as she won the show on June 2, fell from its midweek placing of Number 27 to end up charting at lowly Number 45.

Speculation also continues to mount as to whether the season's judges Jessie J,, Tom Jones and The Script's Danny O'Donoghue will return for the show's next season.

Guess this is what happens when record industry puppets with zero business savvy of their own get involved in... well, business

Westlife singer Shane Filan has been declared bankrupt.

The singer, whose band have sold over 44 million records during their career, was declared insolvent earlier this week at Kingston County Court in Surrey after admitting that he could not pay his debts.

Despite a successful singing career, Filan's property company, which is based in the Republic of Ireland, has endured a torrid time and went into receivership last month.

Filan has issued a statement, in which he says that filing for bankruptcy had been a difficult decision to take but he had "exhausted all other options".

He went on to say: "Together with a team of financial and legal experts I have spent months exploring all possible alternatives to bankruptcy but to no avail. I have worked long and hard to try to reduce my debts, and I am devastated that it came to this conclusion."

He continued: "I now intend to focus on the remaining dates of the Westlife tour and my commitments to the band before looking to rebuild a future for my wife, my three children and myself."

Westlife announced that they were splitting up earlier this year and will end their 14-year career with a huge outdoor show at Ireland's Croke Park on June 23.
