Sparky says:
Tangentially this got me thinking about Flower Power and I hit upon this compilation
Sixties Summer Love - no Byrds but nevertheless a great nostalgia trip.
California Dreaming - The Mamas And The Papas
San Francisco - Scott McKenzie
A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum
Something In The Air - Thunderclap Newman
Summer In The City - The Lovin' Spoonful
Pictures Of Matchstick Men - Status Quo
Itchycoo Park - The Small Faces
Alone Again Or - Love
For What It's Worth - Buffalo Springfield
Flowers In The Rain - The Move
She's Not There - The Zombies
Medley: Aquarius / Let The Sunshine In - The Fifth Dimension
Venus - Shocking Blue
You Keep Me Hanging on - Vanilla Fudge
Let's Go To San Francisco - The Flowerpot Men
Both Sides Now - Judy Collins
Over Under Sideways Down - The Yardbirds
Woodstock - Matthews Southern Comfort
This one below is more extensive and does have the much vaunted Mr tambourine Man, but that degree of nostalgia (67 tracks!) could prove medically unsound at my age.
The Love Generation - 67 Classic Hits From The Flower Power Era

Oooh interesting? I am amazed and surprised at how ignorant I keep finding myself to be on so much music from this particular era - perhaps I was just far too busy playing hopscotch or trying to master Kerplunk instead?!! Being born in 1968, my awareness and interest in music only really took hold in the 80's and so I only know 6 maybe 7 of those, Sparky? - I will definitely check them out, thank you...x

Though I was hearing the music of the Byrds from a very early age I never despite intentions got around to purchasing an album proper. The only thing I have is Byrds 20 Essential Tracks. Used copy for £0.98 Suzy so with postage comes in under your £2.74 savings.

Well?...I have already promised this 'bloke', four bags of doughnuts now in return for a Byrds CD?

However, I may just nip back later on and do a little bit of spending with some money borrowed from his top secret Lemon Drizzle Cake Fund...HA HA HA!!! - and I bet that you all probably think that I am joking, don't you?!! - LOL!!! ;o>)

Eight Miles High, Draft Morning, Wasn't Born To Follow, Lady Friend (I can appreciate why Crosby was miffed at Lady Friend being left off the Younger Than Yesterday album - cracking track), Gunga Din.

Lez Lee says:
Oh dear, there must be something wrong with me. I like only 3 of Sparky's list and 4 of the 67 (found list on 'zon.com). Didn't like them at the time and they haven't improved with age.
Never could stand the Byrds either.

Signed : Grumpy Old Woman. ;-)
