We were joint winners of a Pub quiz last night which can't be bad - further fun to be had later on today!

We had to be split into 2 teams RAB due to the number of us, but our winning team was of course named. . . . . . . . . . Deadheads. ;-)

Derek W. says:
Got back safely through the rain this morning only to find a message on our phone to tell us that the dental appointments we'd come back early for had been cancelled, which is annoying as we could have stayed until Friday after all:-(

The weather could have been kinder to us, but we did all right yesterday, 4.5 mile walk with Rig in the morning, then he got a run round on Par Beach with Bella, Cornish's Border Collie/Springer Spaniel which they both enjoyed. Very pleasant meal at The Galleon last night with the other attendees. Now have stack of CDs about 2 inches high to listen to:-)

Re the Pub Quiz, I can highly recommend the Safe Harbour pub in Fowey as one the friendliest pubs we've been to. Certainly the most dog friendly place we've visited. Rig thought it was great, regular dog biscuits and water provided by the landlady and loads of people came to pet him as well. What more could a dog want:-)

Hope the weather hasn't spoiled the last day too much for you guys down in Phewwwwwwy, any truth in the rumour that you'll be spending the last night on the prom?

We had a newsflash on the telly today about customers in a Cornish village café being attacked and pillaged by cooking pots, local police believe it was the pyrex of Penzance.

Hi Mark, our drive back up this morning was pretty bad. Good to see you posting on here, hope all is well:-)

Hi Derek, glad you made it back safely, certainly enjoyed the last 2 evenings.

Hi Mark, damn awful weather down here this morning, but we made it to the beach this afternoon.

Mark Kibble says:
Best not to answer that on here Derek, shame about the dentist appointments, as long as you both (plus Rig) enjoyed the time that had had there, that's all that counts. We've had a major upheaval in the den today, pressure mattress and cushion arrived so it was bed rearranging, not by me, I'm struggling to lift a knife and fork, boy wonder helped the guvnor with it, to be fair they were quite thoughtful about it as everything was done and dusted by the time Von Ryan's express started.

Just seen Lez safely on the train. The boys should be setting off soon.

Greysuit says:
Not only did we set off - we all got home safe and sound.

Got a missed call from Mondo (just North of Exeter - me and Wharfy that is - not Mondo) telling me how hacked off he and Pugwash were about their arrival home.

Well - home (for Mondo and Pugwash) as in the local club - only to discover that they'd missed Seasick Steve by a mere half hour. (Pugwash had been left an autographed souveneir - so he's (I hope) not too hacked off) - and a couple of hours later Wharfy was delivered safe and sound to his front door to discover one of those postman 'red card' jobbies telling him that 'summat' couldn't be delivered due to its size. No mention of fees to be paid - so could be the new GD offering will be on the player tomorrow morning.

As for me - expecting a seriously busy weekend filling a skip of ex garage contents - got home and the job's been done.

Couldn't agree more with Derek's comment about The Safe Harbour. One of the few pubs nowadays that immediately make you think of traditional English (I know Kernow ain't in England !!!) Pubs.

Results all round.

Lez Lee says:
Arrived back at 9.15, train delayed after lightning strike (as in storm, not staff) affected signals.
Had a grate time - beautiful place, excellent company, too much food and not a note of GD! Weather disappointing but we managed to get out each day. Thanks to all the lads for making me welcome and a big thanks to Cornish for the lifts to and from.
Hope to repeat the experience next year!

Yet another excellent meet at Fowey and while the weather didn't exactly dampen our spirits, it certainly tried to drown us on out little boat trip to Polruan! See you all again next year if not sooner.

Greysuit says:
Or maybe a bit later ???

The tradtion (to date) has been to arrive on the Tuesday and leave on the Friday (Lez excepted). This firmly ensures that we are not there for the live music on the Friday night - and even miss the Sunday lunch jazz session.

So what about arriving on the Friday and leaving on Monday next year ???

(As suggested by Mondo - and fully supported by me as a potential way of getting a load more out of our 3 nights in Fowey).

More to follow on the Fowey 2014 thread (to be created soon).

Therefore - NO COUNTDOWN TO 2014 as it may well start on a Friday (as opposed to the 'traditional' Tuesday).

Derek W. says:
Grey - personally 'missing the Sunday lunch jazz session' is probably the highlight of the annual event:-)

Friday to Monday misses the quiz night, unless there's one at a different pub:-(

Having said that, we'll go along with the majority (but we'll probably still miss the Sunday lunch jazz session).

Mondo Ray says:
Quiz night is Wednesday, so Wed to Fri might suit everyone. It would allow me to work on the Tuesday, too, running my local quiz as usual. Live music night to chill to on Fri before leaving Sat a.m. would be cool for me. But I'll go with the flow, whatever is going to draw most visitors*.

*Special 2014 prize for first person to tick off everything in their I-SPY DOG BREEDS book! :-))
